XO Memebox I'm Mascara

I recently got a XO Memebox I’m Mascara in my Pony X Memebox and got quite excited about it. First off, it’s such basic stuff! Basic is good! No club applicator here, no spikes, no plastic, it’s just a really simple bushier applicator. I kinda like the bells and whistles were left off and it just looked like it was going to work out great for me but add in the fact that the color was such an inky pigmented color and I was all about it.

But yeah, it turned into a mess!

XO Memebox I’m Mascara is actually a “made by Memebox” product and even thought I’m about to give it a rather poor review I’d like to say that some of the Memebox makeup products are actually awesome so don’t let this one review jade your view on trying out other products from their line!

Memebox I'm Mascara

No doubt this indeed has a jet black formula! There’s excellent pigmentation here and I could see that out of the tube without even applying this. Once applied I was really pleased with the inkiness of my lashes and I had wishes that the formula was better because I loved how dramatically this looked on my lashes.

On that note, I will say that the rest is all downhill.

I’m not sure what went wrong here but this formula just doesn’t work for me. The curved applicator fits nicely under my eyes, it isn’t too big, and I felt comfortable using it but for some reason it made a major mess during application. My lashes ended up clumpy and wet plus mascara was smeared on my upper lash line during the application process so there was clean up to be had after applying. You have to come this through after applying otherwise you simply have one big clumpy lash. My issue was my lashes were just all stuck together into a single big lash! Not a good look! I tried it several times with the same results but sometimes I did get lucky and instead of clumps I came out of the application with shorter, sparse lashes than I did going in…eh!? Who knows what is going on here!

XO Memebox I'm Mascara before after

It’s weird because the formula is wet but NOT too wet so I’m not really sure what went wrong here. It does set to a very crunchy, stiff finish but didn’t flake, didn’t smear, or smudge but did prove difficult to remove even with oil based eye makeup remover. It seems like a fiber based mascara somehow because as I removed my cotton pad was filled with flaky bits of mascara.

Sadly, this looks like a winner, has a great budget price tag, but the formula is very fussy!

Oh well!

Oh, that’s disappointing. I really want to like the Memebox branded stuff, but I didn’t have luck with their peachy/coral lipstick. I was hesitant to try the mascara, and now I’m glad I didn’t.
