L'Oreal Colour Riche Le Matte Lipcolour Stick

L’Oreal Colour Riche Le Matte Lipcolour Stick ($9.99) are a velvety full coverage lipstick pencil that’s available in five shade selections launching to L’Oreal’s permanent collection for Fall 2015. L’Oreal Colour Riche Le Matte Lipcolour Sticks originally launched for a limited time for Fall 2013 but they are back in old and new shades.

Let’s take a look!

L’Oreal Colour Riche Le Matte Lipcolour Stick

L’Oreal Colour Riche Le Matte Lipcolour Stick (0.032 oz) are available in a matte finish as well as glossy ones. I remember when I first purchased these back in 2013 and thought they were a click pen lipgloss of sorts. They kinda do have that look about them right? But they aren’t a gloss! These are a swivel up pencil with an oval dip much like the new Maybelline Color Blur Pencils but of course, L’Oreal has the upper hand since they offer their formula in two finishes of both a matte and a lacquer or glossy one.

You all know I’m not a huge matte lipstick fan but L’Oreal Colour Riche Le Matte Lipcolour Sticks throw that opinion right out the window. They are a very easy to wear formula even on my dry lips. The texture is soft, thin, and satiny and applies easily onto lips with a beautiful glide! The color doesn’t migrate or feather and wears for a solid four to five hours. They don’t provide moisture but they aren’t drying either and have a very lightweight texture that’s pleasant and comfortable to wear. Unfortunately, unlike the original formula which didn’t have a flavor or fragrance these do in fact have the L’Oreal Color Riche Lipstick flavor and fragrance which is kinda a rose-y perfume-y taste.

L’Oreal Colour Riche Le Matte Lipcolour Stick Swatches (Mad for Matte and She’s So Matte)

One of the shades I picked up, She’s So Matte, is a delightful dusky mauve nude which is well worth exploring if you like these sort of warmer shades. Both colors I grabbed had excellent pigmentation with opaque color after applying a single layer. The color lasted well through the wear without fading or losing intensity.

L’Oreal Colour Riche Le Matte Lipcolour Stick were great in 2013 and remain as great in 2015. It’s nice to see their permanent return to the L’Oreal Collection!

I’m so glad these are back! I loved the first run back in 2013 and I’m glad to hear they’re still great. You know how everyone raves about YSL’s lip products? I feel like L’Oreal is the YSL of drugstore brands (which makes sense because I’m pretty sure L’Oreal owns YSL beauty). Now if only they would release a Baby Doll Kiss & Blush type product through L’Oreal for drugstores…my life would be complete.

Ooh, I love She’s so Matte. Love the color — although I always want to buy these shades and they often don’t look great on me. Looks like it’s not so so matte that it’s had to wear, either.

  • Melody

Ah Muse I wish I could pull off reds as beautifully as you do, hon!!

I can’t wait to try these! I was never able to find them when they were first released so I’m dying to get my hands on them this time around. I like the packaging and the formula sounds pretty nice. I’m really digging She’s So Matte too. I hope I find a display soon

I have She’s So Matte, and it reminds me quite a bit of my Bite matte lip crayon. It lasts very well. I drink something pretty much constantly at work and it stays on very nicely. My lips weren’t dried out when it finally wore off either. I’d say I got about 5 hours of wear. I would buy more but I’m not in love with their shades.I think these have the Grandma’s Makeup smell, but it dissipated pretty quickly.

I’m so glad you posted about these. Maybe I missed it (I have a 3 month old)
But how do they compare to the originals color wise? I still hoard the three I have.

I’m a big matte fan, and though I love high end I never discount a good drugstore buy.

Just wondering if any of the colors are the same as the old ones or will I have all new colors even though some if the names are the same .

Btw you look fabulous in bright colors. You can rock a red!

Thanks for the review!! I am in love with the le mattes! I bought the only two that were in stock at ulta recently when they had a 40% off sale and they are super comfortable!! I got the red one (mad for matte) which I love and the hot pink one (matte for me) which is a little too bright but I’m not giving up on it yet haha. I just bought the other three shades at cvs because I had a 30% off coupon on my cvs card (for being a makeup junkie) and am excited to try them, especially She’s so matte. The names are cute I guess but make it hard to remember which shade goes with which name. I really love how comfortable they feel and the shape does help put it on well.

my pleasure Windy! I’m glad to hear you like these! Thanks so much for the info on the CVS deal too! 😀

Also cvs has a deal on l’oreal-spend $15 and get $5 on extrabucks. So if you buy three le mattes you will get $10 in extrabucks. Then you could use the $10 on anything (maybe one more le matte!)
