Milani Awakening Rose Rose Powder Blush ($7.99) is one of three new, limited edition Milani Rose Powder Blush shades that launched for Summer 2015.
One of the things that set these new shades apart from others was the fact they have a luminous finish! Sadly though, I noticed seeing that effect best from Blossomtime Rose versus any of the other shades!
Awakening Rose doesn’t quite have that luminous glow I’m always seeking out in blushes but it is a very solid, neutral shade that should look very nice on fairer skin tones.
Take a peek!
Milani Awakening Rose Rose Powder Blush is a dusky rose with iridescent pearl but personally I think it runs towards being more of a tan rose sans any pearl anything in my opinion. This formula is one of the denser, drier textured Rose Powder Blushes. I find most of them have a texture like that but it doesn’t prevent them from applying and blending out quite beautifully.
I thought the shade would look more neutral but I get a nice hint of peach from it. Funny, as the thing I love most about this shade is the fact it is very subtle. It’s pigmented nicely but isn’t a bold, vibrant shade. I own so many bold blushes that I thought Awakening Rose was a nice neutral blush to wear with more drama eye looks. It isn’t my favorite shade from this collection but it is still quite pretty none the less.
As you can see it has a raised, 3D blush design. I’m a packaging h0r so I absolutely adore the rose shape and design! Plus it doesn’t fade with use! I have Rose Powder Blush that are over a year old and they still have their pretty rose shape!
Milani Awakening Rose Rose Powder Blush Swatches
I hope Milani does more luminous shades. I think Blossomtime Rose was a good example of a gorgeous glowing blush! I’m not sure I can say the same for Awakening Rose but I’m hopeful with new introductions they’ll improve upon the finish because obviously they headed in the right direction. Awakening Rose is a good pick up if you want to take your blush down a notch or two. It’s an excellent shade to have handy when you’re doing a more dramatic eye look. I wouldn’t say it’s a keeper but it doesn’t have its benefits.
