About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I saw this palette in-store at Kohl’s a couple of weeks ago, so apparently it isn’t an “ULTA exclusive”, and is available to swatch. From what I could tell, the shadows are very pigmented & smooth, and the colors are absolutely gorgeous! I passed on it due to the fact there are a few other palettes I plan to pick up, and this one runs just a wee bit warm for my tastes…

i don’t get why they do that “online only, ulta exclusive” on the site. Confusion 😀 Sounds lovely…the wines and gold seemed appealing to me!

I was just about to comment that it’s not an Ulta exclusive because I get got mine in today from Kohl’s.com. LOL!!! I can’t wait to use because it looks so pretty!

Actually, I saw this at the Duane Reades near my job in midtown but I completely and unequivocally passed on it. Why? Because I had been collecting these Cargo palettes over time, and over time they went from Made in the USA to Made in China — and I had a terrible allergic reaction. The chemical smell was off-putting as well, abd this new one is no exception (DR’s had a tester in the display). In the trash they went!

    • Isabella Muse

interesting! And they have an “online exclusive” posted on it! WHY!!!!!!! ;-D aw sorry chica!

  • Christina D.

Ah no worries, Sis, and thank you for your patience with my Made in China rants!

Yeah, I notice that all the time, on Ulta and on Sephora, so-called “exclusives” that I see at other retailers in-store and on-line.

    • Isabella Muse

rant away my dear :-D!!!!!!!!!!! It drives me nuts. especially nordstrom’s, during their anniversary everything is exclusive this exclusive that and within a month it’s literally everywhere!

  • Renu

These are exactly my kind of shades! But I am paletted-out right now (bought 23 in the second half of the year alone) so I may not buy – at least, not until you review it and MAKE me want it 😀

I have this palette and I adore it. But I’m a beginner make-up girl, so maybe I’m just thrilled by everything! But I do love the Cargo brand. Have 5 of the eye palettes and seven of the blushes!

It worries me when I see the Made in China on the packaging because the country insists on animal testing for any makeup products. And it is worth noting that that the scent and formula of the products have changed.
I am just meh about the palette – very similar shades to many others out there in the market at the moment.
Thank you Christina above for alerting us to the origin of its production.

  • Deborah

I’ve been waiting for this palette but no mattes?! No thanks. Is everyone supposed wear a gold or silver highlight on their brown bone with every look?

  • Veronica

I guess I should be glad I’m saving money, but honestly I’m just bummed out by how warm toned all the fall lines are looking, lol.

  • Darkangel

I’m the same skin tone as Rihanna. From what I’ve seen from swatches/reviews of Tarte, Too Faced, KVD and even Urban Decay’s holiday palettes (blushes, lip colors, etc.), is that they’re primarily cool toned. It makes sense since they’re trying to appeal to the widest demographic. But I would love someone to point out all these warm toned palettes, because I have yet to see them.

I received this in the mail today and it truly is GORGEOUS! I’m pretty upset about the animal testing though as I truly thought Cargo did NOT test on animals :/

    • Meagan

To my knowledge, China only requires animal testing of you sell the makeup in Chinese stores. Cargo is made in China, but not sold there so I think it’s okay.
I know a few cruelty free beauty sites said Cargo isn’t tested on animals at all.
