Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara1

Maybelline Volum’ Express The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara is a new volumizing and lift mascara that launched for Fall 2015 and will be part of Maybelline’s permanent mascara collection. I must say I’m a splurge kinda mascara girl. I’m never fully happy with drugstore mascaras and I feel like spending $9 or more dollars on a budget brand and being disappointed is such a waste when I could just add a few more dollars onto that and splurge on a mid-range brand.

Right now I’m more than happy with Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara! It’s my go to mascara and it never fails me. I do like some drugstore mascaras like Maybelline Illegal Length is an excellent formula and performs quite well.

Needless to say going into my Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara I kinda had my doubts especially since I didn’t really like the original Maybelline the Falsies Mascara formula!

But I obviously had nothing to fear because this formula gets a Muse Approval!

Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara2

Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara comes in a waterproof and non waterproof formula and is available in several shade selections for around $9 at drugstores. That’s a little high for a drugstore mascara in my opinion but there are so many sales and coupons that you’ll likely never pay that amount anyway!

At a glance it almost looks like a dual ended mascara due to the barrel shape which has a larger top and a skinnier bottom. When I first saw it I thought maybe it was a mascara and primer duo but that’s not the case at all so the packaging is a little misleading.

Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara

This comes with a fairly basic straight line plastic applicator that has sharp spiky bristles. They say the brush has a push up cup design that scoops lashes up at the root and pulls them forward for volume and length. I had no problems with the brush and it applies the mascara without clumps! It strokes through quickly and easily without smearing on my upper or lower lash line. Plus the applicator isn’t huge so I never feel like I’m about to poke an eye out with the applicator. The formula sets to a nice soft finish so I don’t feel my lashes were stiff or crunchy. There are some minor issues with removal on the waterproof formula so used an oil based eye makeup remover to get it all off at the end of the day. During the wear I didn’t have issues with flaking, smearing, or smudging!

What about the length and the volume you might be wondering?

It does indeed deliver incredible length! Now the original formula I felt wasn’t very dramatic but this formula is all about the drama. You get very long lashes with this and it extends lashes out quite nicely. I wouldn’t say it curls but it does provide incredible length. The volume, well, that’s ok but what the formula really excels at is creating very, very long lashes and I’m more than happy with that.

Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara befre after

So you might be slightly disappointed with the volume as this doesn’t make lashes incredibly full but the length more than makes up for that mishap! Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara grabs lashes at the root and does indeed push them up and out for a longer false lash-like appearance.

I like!

I’m pretty pleased with this this formula’s performance and you will be too if you’re looking for some extra length.

It’s good to hear that maybelline has at least one decent product. I (against my better judgement) purchased a couple products from this brand to give them another chance, and see if they’ve improved at all. Sadly, the liquid eyeliner that was supposed to be black was gray and watery, and the me mechanical eyebrow pencil has broken off all 3 times that i attempted to use it! Never again will i gamble on this brand. You’d think that after being in the biz for 100 years, they would figure out how to not make crappy makeup! NYX and Milani have gotten it right at a similar price point..it shouldn’t be that hard! Sorry about the rant, I’m quite irritated with maybelline at the moment!

sadness sorry to hear! haha! Don’t worry, I completely understand and relate!

I haven’t been too thrilled with Maybelline lately. I can’t recall the last time I’ve bought anything I’ve really liked, aside from some of the BabyLips. Their lipsticks are too perfumey. I recently threw out all the ones I had by them because they irritated my lips and I hated the smell. (I wish I’d returned them right away when I’d gotten them.) Next time I’m tempted I’ll tell myself to save the money and spend it on NYX, or pile it up for something higher end that doesn’t smell like an explosion of baby powder.

Looks lovely! But right now my eyelashes a bit weak and I stay away from mascaras. I need volume and curl effect! I’m natural redhead but I have straight eyelashes.. Even in 2015 I coudn’t see any technology of this problem to get solve! 🙂

the only one working for me is Diorshow. I know it’s expensive, but considering how much i wasted on all other mascaras….otherwise, no mascara is my other option

I’m loving Maybelline right now, especially their foundations & concealers. The Better Skin Concealer & the Fit Me Matte & Poreless foundation & powder are fantastic on my combo skin. Now having said that, I don’t really think their mascaras are worth all the hype, nor are their eyeshadows. I like the lipsticks, especially the matte collection, but I think they smell like Play-doh!!! Baby lips is just meh for me, too.

I completely disagree with your review, sorry! I also bought the Maybelline Push up Falsie Mascara and didn’t experience anything you did with it. I bought blackest black in the non-waterproof formula. They hit that name right. I applied the first coat and while my lashes appeared longer, that’s what happens with any brand mascara. I did get a few dots of mascara on both my upper and lower lids when applying it, but it was really easy to get off. One coat was not enough so after applying my second coat of the mascara I did get clumps and lashes sticking together. Absolutely no lift or curl. The name should be False not Falsie! I had a little flaking and word of advice….don’t sweat at all if you buy the non-waterproof formula because you will look ridiculous. Just a minimal amount of sweating made my eyes look like raccoons! If you want to try this definitely by the waterproof if you plan on going dancing or anything that may cause any type of perspiration. In my opinion this mascara is an alright purchase if you just plan on sitting on the couch all day. I give this a mascara wand down on this review.

Don’t be sorry for disagreeing with me Carrie! I like to think that this is a community where we can share however we feel about something be it good or bad! I’m sorry it didn’t work for you but I’m glad you posted about your issues it’ll be major helpful to others who read here 🙂

      • Carrie R

Thank you Muse, I just didn’t want to sound rude having a different experience with the product then you did. I think we have to factor in age differences too. I am 48 years old and you look half my age. Everyone has different skin types and facial hair. Meaning eyebrows and eyelashes so what products work good for you, doesn’t necessarily mean they would work the same for me. I do appreciate your response because I really hesitated before posting my comments. I just didn’t want to sound like I was contradicting you. But unfortunately I did have a different experience than you. Thank you…I appreciate your kind words.

        • Isabella Muse

Carrie, it’s not rude at all! I love that you took time out of your busy day to leave your feedback and thoughts on the product. I always call it as different strokes for different folks 🙂 Not everything I like is going to mean you love it and likewise for things I dislike. I could hate something yet it might work fabulously for me. For me the fact we all have different experiences with something is part of the fun! makeup and beauty is always a great discovery 🙂 Post as many comments as you like whether it is to agree to disagree with me. I appreciate your feedback, don’t forget that. And no need to thank me 🙂 thank YOU for taking time out to offer up your thoughts and just to hang out here. That means a lot to me! I want this to be an environment you feel comfortable enough in to, as they say, “let it all hang out” 🙂 xoxoxo!

I also recently purchased the Maybelline Super Stay 24 Hour Color. I don’t know who they have to test and review their products, but the must be mannequins and nit humans. They state this formula won’t dry or flake on your lips and it did exactly that. After wearing it for about an hour I had to wipe it off with a tissue. It did come right off. It didn’t stain my lips at all light most “stay put” lip colors. After only wearing the lipstick for a short time, it almost felt like I had chapped lips and skin was peeling off. It was the lip color clumping together. It looked and felt horrible. The clear topcoat stayed on until I took a drink off water then I had a shiny clear lip stain on my glass. Sorry Maybelline but you still haven’t got this formula right. I would rather buy a regular lipstick and keep applying it then go through two steps to have my lips look hideous within an hour. Another lipstick tube upside down review. Try testing the products using real, everyday people and not makeup artists, animals or mannequins! Real people give you real feedback!

This is the crappiest stuff my wife has ever used (Falsies push up drama mascara)

  • Lily L.

Listen moderator, let my review go through or else i will go to yelp and google and you tube and maybe i will sue you. but Lily’s eyes are irritated to the point she can’t see anything she couldn’t even drive and the top of her eyebrows were sore with pain. What is in this stuff anyway. it’s called “The falsies push drama mascara” will sue you the first opportunity we get. we have proof, pictures, and doctor notes, and receipts. you need to pay up somehow.

    • Isabella Muse

Lily you might want to take your problem up with the brand directly. I don’t own Maybelline. Secondly, comments are moderated so you have to be patient and wait for them to be approved before they appear.

Since I have very short eyelashes, I’m always trying new ones. I just used it and I agree with you. Good at length not so good for volume. I heard on a talk show that it’s best to use 2 different mascaras for the best look. I love lashblast from covergirl for fullness so I used them both. …lashes look full and long.

    • pam

I meant that I’m always buying new mascaras. ..not lashes. ..lol. Sorry.

  • pam

I know that I said that I like this new mascara but after wearing it a few days I have changed my mind. It does make my lashes longer but it is too sticky and clumpy.

  • Stephania

What I love about this mascara is that it makes my lashes look super long and curly which is something that is hard to find in a lot of mascaras so I was really happy with the results at first however, I got the waterproof version since I have an oily face and my mascaras usually smears throughout the day BUT this waterproof is SUPER DUPER hard to take off. I use face wash, makeup wipes, lotion, and soap but it is just very hard to budge. It usually takes me about 3-4 scrubs before I actually get it off and even then I still have a little bit left. So yes I love how it makes my lashes look but I feel like I’m at war with this product! Plus it’s a little too clumpy.
