About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Hi!

They have new lip liners called the “slide on lip pencils”. I guess they have the same formulation as the slide on eye pencils which a lot of people love. I’m hoping they are a dupe for MAC Prolongwear.

Very intriguing! Might have to try everything out, except . . .

BWAHAHAHAHA! $20 For a NYX Foundation? Girl please. They must have bumped their dang heads. A few more bucks and you can get MAC or Clinique.

      • Andrew

Right?! I feel like sometimes brands forget who their target audience is. Even if they’re trying to reach out to the higher-end consumer, someone who covets Chanel and Givenchy isn’t going to be like, “Oh, this is $20 from a drugstore so I feel comfortable buying it and letting people know I have it!”

Because as a reformed high-end snob I can attest that, along with many other high-end consumers, that was my thought process. A high end purchase is a status symbol.

Look at the new Louboutin lipsticks for example: they perform like many lipsticks you can get for anywhere between $6-$25, yet they’re actually selling for NINETY FREAKING BUCKS. They have beautiful packaging, but that packaging can’t be stored upright, displayed, nor does it include any kind of label regarding the shade and formula. You’re literally paying 4x-11x as much for the name and impractical packaging.

No thanks. For a higher price tag the formula of an item needs to be on point and unique.

Sorry for ranting. I just feel like it’s a bit of exploitation and as someone who’s going to school to (hopefully) be a cosmetic chemist it really strikes a major nerve.

Right on, Andrew. 90 bucks for lipstick and 50 for a nail polish??? It’s going to look like any other 5.00 lipstick or dollar store nail polish when seen on the street. Ridiculous.

  • Zovesta

Yup yup, with Andrew. =( NYX and ELF’s prices have gone up, it’s nuts! When NYX goes over $10 they’re reaching… $20? Insanity. Still, might have to try the concealer, since their HD concealer is just awful for me.

Good thing Wet n Wild’s pretty consistent with prices. *sigh*

$10 for ELF, $20 for NYX, $90 for Louboutin lipsticks. Where is this going to end?
