Lush Dark Yellow Color Supplement Review & Swatches
The Lush Emotional Brilliance Makeup Collection launched in 2012 and I’ve had the pleasure of trying many of the items in the collection but I just recently tried the Lush Dark Yellow Color Supplement.
How is that possible?
The Lush Dark Yellow Color Supplement is one of several cream color supplements that Lush offers which can be used alone or mixed with moisturizer or primer to create a smooth, soft, natural finish on skin. If you happen to be a fan of Kevyn Aucoin The Sensual Skin Enhancer you should definitely read this review!
Unlike Cover FX Custom Cover Drops, Kevyn Aucoin The Sensual Skin Enhancer is one of those products you can cocktail with just about anything and it works! I’ve been a fan of Kevyn’s formula for several years as I happen to love cream foundation products and truly his is the ultimate cream foundation. It’s pigmented, it’s creamy, and it mixes well with moisturizer, primer, SPF, you name it!
Lush Dark Yellow Color Supplement isn’t nearly as pigmented as Kevyn’s formula but it is just as hydrating, soft, creamy, and natural looking plus you can mix it with just about anything for natural, smooth, gorgeous coverage.
Lush offers these in supplements in three different shade selections. I got the middle light yellow shade which Lush promotes as being great for those who tan easily! They claim it’s great for olive, yellow toned, or medium complexions. I do tan easily and I fall into the realms of being a light medium shade but the yellow base did scare me. But this actually turned out to be a near perfect shade for me as it applies a lot lighter than it looks in the pot. This shade is a medium beige with yellow undertones but it applies as a lighter medium shade on skin.
It’s very creamy, far more hydrating than the Sensual Skin Enhancer in my opinion as it absorbs easily and isn’t as tacky. It’s very lightweight and wears comfortably on my drier skin without adhering to drier areas. It also creates the most beautiful, natural skin finish on my skin that wears for a nice six hour period without setting with powder.
The coverage runs sheerer but also builds easily. Those seeking medium or heavier pigmentation might want to skin with the Kevyn Aucoin formula but those who like natural barely there coverage that will even out skin tone and conceal minor redness or darkness will love this!
Now, it’s only has a shelf life of a year where as most cream foundations would last around two but considering how great the formula is you’ll likely run through it fast enough with daily use!
Love this stuff.
Well worth a purchase!
