Real Techniques Gel Brush Cleanser

Real Techniques Gel Brush Cleanser ($8.99) is a new deep cleansing Gel Makeup Brush Cleanser that will be part of the Real Techniques permanent collection. Excuse me but can we possibly get a super size of this Real Techniques Gel Brush Cleanser? The 5.1 oz is simply not enough! I need like a gallon size.

This stuff is amazing!

I should start off this review by saying I do not like shampooing my makeup brushes. It’s a tedious cleansing process in my opinion and although cheap I personally prefer liquid brush cleansers like NYX Brush Cleaner, MAC Brush Cleaner, or my personal favorite (even though I hate the smell) Cinema Secrets Brush Cleaner. I just find liquids easier than sitting around hunched over a sink with shampoo. I can pour liquid into a bowl or a cup, swirl my brushes in it a few times, and rinse them out. DONE! Shampooing seems to take longer, and it feels messier to me! By the time I’m done my sink looks like I murdered someone.

So when Real Techniques Gel Brush Cleanser popped onto my radar I was all, “No way! I am not sitting around shampooing brushes!” But it’s been life changing and I can see myself using this as often as I can as it really gives brushes a super deep clean.

It’s a funny thing and the brand focuses on marketing this as a cleanser that will change the way your make applies and lord knows that’s all truth because dirty brushes just don’t get your look perfected. This is a thick gel formula with the powder of a concentrate that’s alcohol free. It doesn’t really sud up or lather in my opinion but a simple squirt on a wet brush and you’ll be amazed at how well it cleanses. I purposely used it on a really dirty blush brush and I was fascinated how easily and deeply it cleaned the brush. Simple water wouldn’t remove any of the blush embedded deeply into the bristles but a squirt of the gel, a little massage, and a quick rinse and the blush buildup was quickly rinsed away. It was like I had purchased a brand new brush out of the package. Did I mention the rather delightful fresh scent too?

Now this isn’t going to dry brushes quickly so you aren’t going to be able to use your favorite brush right after a cleanse. You’ll have to wait a few hours for the bristles to dry! I typically do my brushes on Monday night and by Tuesday they are nice and dried up for the week. I used an entire bottle of this stuff on about half my brush collection and I didn’t experience any bristle breakage or splitting. Plus it left bristles nice and soft after use and not dense and hard as some cleansers are prone to doing it.

Would I buy it again?

Absolutely.

If your brushes are in need of a little deep cleansing TLC the new Real Techniques Gel Brush Cleanser is well worth a purchase!

Loves it!

I bought this a few weeks ago because my brushes were so dirty and I was tired of mixing what I normally do to clean, it was also on sale. I am amazed at how well it cleaned my brushes. I was curious as to how well it would clean so I also tried it on my beauty blender holy cow that thing is like brand new now. I loved this cleaner and will totally by more when I am out.

Hi Muse. I know this may sound like s stupid question. I normally use baby shampoo to clean my brushes. How do you use this new cleaner? Thanks for your help.

Hey Maria, not stupid at all. I wet my brush and I squeeze a small amount onto the brush and I just kinda squeeze it through the brush. You can also squeeze some in your hand and swirl your brush in it. Same technique you’d use with baby shampoo is fine! This just doesn’t foam or lather up. It does give brushes a very deep clean though.

Love this cleanser. Found it on a whim while perusing the makeup aisles at my local grocery store. Truly does a nice job at cleaning the gunk from my blush brushes. I put on a rubber gloves with grooves on it (like the kind you wash dishes with ) then squirt the cleanser on my glove , swirl the brush in it, then rinse and voila, the makeup comes right out ! Love this stuff!
