About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I’ve been tempted by this and the other CK One palette (Neutrals Redefined) even before they went on sale. I don’t know anything about the brand except that they are made by Coty (I looked at them in store). When I think Coty, I think old lady perfume-y scented powders, but that goes waaay back to my first experiences with drugstore cosmetics as a teen. What do you think? Do you have any feedback or impressions of Coty nowadays?

I haven’t tried their eyeshadows but I have tried the concealer, lipgloss, and a few other pieces from their makeup collection and liked them a lot Christina! I know Coty is commonly associated with old lady stuff 🙂 but they actually have a good deal of prestigious brands under their belt like Marc Jacobs fragrances, Philosophy, and even Rimmel (not so prestigious haha but yeah they are part of the Coty family) 🙂

In terms of texture, you would like this. It is a slurry formula eye shadow (the ‘asian’ es formulas you rave about all the time).

The only thing that I hesitate about is Ulta. I’ve been burned there so many times with the offer of GWP, then it turns out that they have none. This isn’t on the last day of promotion, either, when they might have run out, but within the first couple days of a sale that promises GWP. I was told by more than one store manager that they often don’t get sent the GWP, or that they are last on the list to receive because the “bigger cities” get them first. I don’t exactly live in a tiny town, so I’m not sure what they’re talking about. I’ve never had that problem at Sephora. When they are out of a gift, they offer something else of similar value, or if they are out of a product, they are nice enough to offer you a sample to tide you over, and then call you when the shipment comes in! I’m not even Rouge, just VIB, although when I was just BI four years ago, I still rec’d this awesome service, so I don’t think they even look at how much someone has spent when they are trying to help someone. And I didn’t even have to ask for the sample or update when the shipment was in, it was offered to me, and they did indeed follow up just as promised! Getting decent (not even stellar, mind you, just decent) customer service is like pulling teeth. They never know when shipments are coming in, they never offer help, and if you don’t have your email or catalogue with you, you can’t redeem your free birthday gift (I’ve forgotten my email at Sephora, and they’ve just looked up my account on their computer and verified I was due for a bday gift–Ulta claims they have no such ability to do so. Unlike Sephora, they will not look you up, or even look at your phone and see the email as proof–they have to have the physical paper copy of the email). So as beautiful as this collection looks, I’ll pass. I would only shop at Ulta if I had no other options. Since I’ve got Sephora and Walgreens, I’ll all set.

Just to clarify, up above when I said getting decent service is like pulling teeth, I was referring to Ulta. 🙂

Sorry Diane 🙁 I’ve never had an issue with their GWPs online and have always gotten them but with Ulta CS I don’t doubt anything as they tend to be very messy!

Great timing as I just purchased this palette over the weekend because of the sale and I’m wearing them for the first time today. (I’ve only tried the purple and beige right in the middle, top and bottom rows)

Soft is the word. Both the colors and the texture of shadows. They can be built up. But it’s not too sparkly and this is an easy way for me to wear purple eyeshadow at work! I also found the colors brightening which is a nice bonus.
