E.L.F. Razzle Dazzle Red Moisturizing Lipstick 1

E.L.F. Razzle Dazzle Red Moisturizing Lipstick is a new permanent shade of E.L.F Moisturizing Lipstick that launched earlier this Fall. I pretty excited about Razzle Dazzle Red because, yeah, that name, dude. But also because I was starting to brace up for the Holidays and I wanted to stock up on a ton of festive Holiday red lipstick shades and this color seemed an ideal pick up.

Plus hello? So cheap at $3!

I picked this up at an E.L.F. Store and let me tell you about their stores. Everything looks amazing in an E.L.F. store. They have some sort of tricked out Hollywood lightening in that store because E.L.F. suddenly looks all high end when you’re seeing it under all those bright lights. Nothing against E.L.F. now, I just think they have hit or miss products. But in the store? Well, in the store EVERYTHING, even the ugly Essential Collection, looks incredible and suddenly you’ll find yourself leaving the store with a $100 worth of makeup.

How the hell did that happen?

E.L.F. Razzle Dazzle Red Moisturizing Lipstick is one of the biggest disappoints of my life, not really, I just like how dramatic that sounds. But it is disappointing. Full disclosure I purchase this in October and I didn’t get around to using it until the beginning of November as it was sitting in my review pile. I’m telling you this because E.L.F. formulas have a tendency to morph, get weird, or go funky when left laying around for a little bit. I find the fresher they are, the better. And even though it was only a month, I’m not sure if I somehow ruined the formula of this lipstick by letting it be while I got busy doing other stuff.

On that note, I’ll say this cold is gorgeous! As I said it was three bucks and hey for three bucks I felt for sure I found my budget beauty fabulous Holiday red lipstick.

And no…

This is a gorgeous warm crimson red with a tiny hint of sparkle (or glitter as it feels slightly gritty). No complaints at all about the shade! It’s very, very pretty.

The formula? Not so pretty!

It’s actually not a horrible formula but the color is so pretty you can’t help but wish the formula was WAY better. This is a semi-matte consistency that kinda drags across lips with a very slightly gritty texture. It applies a little patchy so you have to go over it a few times for the best finish. The color isn’t nearly as pigmented or as vibrant as it looks in the tube and for something called “Moisturizing Lipstick” well, I fail to see any moisture but on that note I will say it isn’t terribly dry but not hydrating at all either. It has a soft matte set that wears comfortably without migrating or feathering for about three to four hours. It also feels like a light velvety lip stain to me.

Again, I really don’t think the formula is horrible. It’s just the color is so pretty you can’t help but wish for more. Something creamier, something more pigmented, something more…!

This unfortunately is a basic budget lipstick in a very pretty shade with a sub par formula that disappoints.

Sad sigh!

Oh well!

Oh no! The swatch looked so promising. Sadly, no ELF stores near me, but $100 worth of ELF products? Wow, that’s a LOT of Elf!

Wow, I agree, that color IS pretty. It’s a great color on you and it’s tempting to get one just for the color. It’s not like I’d be spending $20 for it and I’m willing to suffer (a little) for beauty!! 😀

haha I know what you mean, it’s only three bucks so it’s totes workable 😀

Lovely colour – but if you can’t wear it because the formula is off, then that is a waste. Oh ELF what are you doing to your loyal customer base?
I would stick to the Maybelline Colour Sensational Range – that never disappoints me.
