Ah the Sephora Pantone Color of the Year 2016 No Rules are New Rules Makeup Collection is the new limited edition Sephora Pantone Universe 2016 Color of the Year Collection and news has broken today about this exciting launch!

It’s very exciting to say the least as the Sephora Pantone Collection has been a little quite since the Marsala Collection launched!

The Pantone Color of the Year for 2016 is Serenity (15-3919) and Pantone Rose Quartz (13-1520) and Sephora takes those gorgeous shades and incorporates the duo into classically romantic makeup collection that’s sure to please.

Sephora Pantone Universe 2016 Color of the Year Collection1

The new limited edition Sephora Pantone Color of the Year 2016 No Rules Are the New Rules Collection will be available this December for a limited time at Sephora and Sephora.com and includes a host of gorgeous products (exact launch date to follow).

“With the whole greater than its individual parts, joined together Serenity and Rose Quartz demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace,” said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute™. “Additionally, we are experiencing a gender blur as it relates to fashion, which has in turn impacted color trends throughout all other areas of design, opening our eyes to different approaches to color usage.”

With Serenity, trailblazers will discover that any color can be worn in any way, anywhere. The soft shade relates well to sister shades of blue, and is elegant with gray, olive, orchid and taupe. It takes on an earthier feel with deep lichen green, sage, cedar, shitake and sepia brown, and is easily compatible with more vibrant greens and yellows.

Traditionalists will find Rose Quartz to be a comforting favorite, pairing well with dove gray, lilac and violet, or juxtaposed against deliciously deep chocolates, greens and apricots. For something more unexpected, turn up the heat with pale gold, and warm tones of peach, orange and tan, or add dramatic contrast with peacock blue and deep jungle greens.

The exclusive cosmetics collection, designed by Sephora, evokes the sleek, modern lines of the iconic Pantone Color Chip with a captivating watercolor design inspired by abstract art. Each item features Sephora Collections high performance formulas that offer rich color payoff and a luxurious feel during wear, with refined finishes like matte, shimmer, satin and shine.

Yay! I love these collections. The palette looks so different in terms of shades. I’m super excited!!!

Ahh i too wish i can pull off pastels but I’m way too tan for it to work for me. It seems like the Sephora Pantone collections work for me every other year lol. I loved this year’s marsala collection. Here’s to hoping 2017 will work for us pastel repellent types!
The exterior of the palette itself is so gorgeous though! i wish it came in like a mini mirror compact or even like a face product like a blush of some sort!

I wish they played more with Marsala! It saddens me it was such a quick and fleeting collection! But I still wanna see these in person even if I can’t pull them off 😀

  • Jessica

Yay! This is very exciting for pale girls like me. Marsala is so pretty but hard to translate into makeup for me other than as an accent color or something like an eyeliner. Now rose quartz, that I can bathe in. 😉

  • Benni

Surprised they don’t have more products…usually there’s also blush, liners, etc. Not wild about the lipsticks/lip gloss, but I love the colors in the eyeshadow palette.

  • Christina

Ooh how very nice! I love the way the palette looks. I don’t really like Sephora formula eyeshadow, but I love the way colours of the palette. I am a pale girl, so I love wearing pastels–just not all at once!

  • Maria

These look so pretty. Love the eyeshadow palette. Please let us know when it is available.

  • Marisa

I want that palette! Been looking for some pastel eyeshadows recently, so this came at the perfect time. Here’s to hoping they swatch well. Pastel blue and pink liquid liners would have been pretty cool to see.

Well, I’m really excited to see some pretty pastels BUT I’m really skeptical. First pastel shadows are really hard to get right, as they can look chalky, sheer, frosty, and dry, and Sephora usually doesn’t have the best formula for shadows. Also the same with pastel glosses — remember BITE Watercolors Lip Gloss Library ?? That got poor reviews (sheer, pulled into lip lines) and was eventually marked down on sale. I mean, if BITE can’t get pastel glosses right, I’m not holding much hope out for other brands. Ditto with pastel lipsticks. And I don’t want to buy anything without seeing reviews first, but by that time, everything will be sold out. That’s what happened with the Sephora Marsala Panetone Eye Shadow palette, which reviewed well, but sold out within a nano-second and was never re-stocked. Ditto with the Marsala blushes and lipsticks. It was a joke because it was suppose to be “color of the year” but it was more like color of the “few days”.

I just discovered the shades of the year 2016 today! I love this collection they’re making. xxx

I am not fussed about the lipsticks, but the palette has some gorgeous colours in it. I hope the quality is really good. Love the greys and blues.

  • Nikole

Hmmmm, such beautiful colors; but I won’t be able to partake. (Which is ok because my wallet is reeling from the Black Friday/cyber Monday sales). I love pastel colors so much, but they just don’t look good on me in any way (makeup, clothing, or otherwise). Even that pretty pink lipstick will not look good on me. And the non-pastel colors in the shadow palette will be unflattering on my skin tone.
Enough whining from me though; I hope others really enjoy these colors, and I will just admire them in the pan.

  • Butterdaisy

These are very nice. I pretty much hate pink, but my fave color is blue so I’m loving all the pretty soft blue things I’ve been seeing so far. Like another poster wrote I REALLY want to see swatches/reviews of all of these sets because they do look beautiful in the pics but I wonder about the quality.
