Sephora + Pantone Modern Watercolors Eyes Palette

The Sephora + Pantone Universe Color of the Year 2016 Collection has arrived at Sephora.com and should be popping up shortly in stores. I’ve featured the entire collection in reviews and swatches last week but if you missed them here is a round up and recap!

Sephora + Pantone Universe Color of the Year 2016 Review & Swatches:

I wish I could say I loved this collection but it happens to be one of the few Sephora Pantone Collections that just didn’t work for my skin tone. The colors are really pretty and very Spring-like! They quite remind me of Spring and Easter but they would work best on fairer skin tones plus I do question how many will be able to pull off the lip colors as they have a very strong white undertone likewise for the eyeshadow palette!

These colors seem like they would be better suited in a baby’s room as they are soft, delicate, soothing, and relaxing but on my face? Not working out sadly.

But I’m looking forward to reading reviews on the collection and seeing what youTube gurus create using shades like this.

How about you?

Is the Sephora + Pantone Color of the Year 2016 Collection filled with wearable shades for your skin tone or is it a bust for you like me?

Do share!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. This palette just looks all over the place to me, like the pans were just haphazardly placed wherever… I don’t think I’d ever look at it and come up with any inspiration.

Well I’m pasty & cool-toned, and I don’t see how even I could make that eyeshadow palette work. Too many similar light & midtones, but nothing for the crease or to add any depth. But in 1988, I would have been all over it.

I don’t really like this palette because the colours are too vivid and, dare I say, cheap looking?
Very young girlish? I have a funny feeling that the reviews are going to be bad..

One of the beauty bloggers on Instagram posted swatches of this palette and pigmentation was all over the place with okay to non existent. Needless to say the comments on that post was a resounding no, not getting this palette (myself included)

I bought this palette since I’ve been pleased with sephora/pantone shadows before. The colors are all on the light side (even the darkest shades aren’t really deep enough for a typical crease shade), and the layout of the pans is a little sporadic and disorganized. However, I have been really enjoying using the shades along with the other, more sedate palettes in my collection. There are only so many sensible, nude/smoky/jewel toned shadows once can justify ^^. But this collection really has some unique shades in it, all of whom play very well with others. It isn’t a one-stop-shop type deal, certainly, but once I dug into it, it’s become a favorite so far this year.
