Garnier Skinactive Miracle Anti-Fatigue Wake-Up Hydra-Gel Moisturizer ($16.99) is a new facial moisturizer that promises to provide continuous deep hydration through the day to give skin a well rested and refreshed appearance.

Unlike every single moisturizer on the market at the moment this doesn’t contain or rely on hyaluronic acid but instead contains 15% Hydra-Glycerin which is a known humectant that allows skin to retain moisture.

Let’s take a look!

Garnier Skinactive Miracle Anti-Fatigue Wake-Up Hydra-Gel Moisturizer

Garnier gets it right yet again. In 2010, Garnier Nutritioniste Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel came out and and it was one of the very first gel moisturizers to pop up at drugstores within the US. To this day I really love that moisturizer! More recently Garnier has introduced their two newest micellar waters to the US market and both are wonderfully formulated. Garnier has consectively released some very, very good cleansers and skincare picks over the recent years and they seem to only be getting better with age. This new Hydra-Gel is their latest awesome offering!

Garnier Skinactive Miracle Anti-Fatigue Wake-Up Hydra-Gel Moisturizer comes housed in a 1.7 oz pump with a formula that contains Wild Berry, Vitamins C and E, plus 15% Hydra-Glycerin. This is formulated to provide deep moisture to skin while allowing it to retain that moisture. It is an oil-free moisturizer and it is ideal for dry to very dry skin types (hey, that’s me!). Unfortunately, for sensitive users, it does have a fresh fragrance that might prove irritating! Personally I didn’t mind the fragrance.

So what do I love about this? The fact that it adsorbs easily, the fact that it isn’t greasy, it doesn’t make me shiny, and it has a smooth almost demi-matte finish, the fact that it keeps my skin smooth and hydrates all day.

What more can I say?

I love this formula.

This is a thick almost Vaseline-like consistency that reminds me of a facial primer almost. It absorbs super fast into my skin and delivers a nice boost of cool refreshing moisture at first application. It sets quickly to smooth almost demi-matte finish! I know, don’t panic, this isn’t bad a thing for us dry skin girls and guys. It’s actually a really nice finish as it almost feels like I applied primer to my skin as it smooths and softens the appearance of my complexion. I actually like the finish because not only do you feel the hydration aspect of it you’ll also notice how it doesn’t make for a greasy, shiny mess. Don’t get me wrong I desire a heavy duty moisturizer but not one that makes me so slick I glide. This doesn’t do that! It delivers moisture but also leaves behind a soft surface that isn’t dewy or slick.

Up and around the sides of my nose I’m having some severe dry skin as I have a cold so you know chronic blowing your nose and the skin starts to chap, crack, and flake up especially if you have drier skin. This keeps that area so smooth, so soft, and so moist throughout the day so I’m not left looking like my nose is peeling away.

As far as anti-fatigue, well, I’m of the mentality that more moisture means less tired, dull skin. So in fact this does improve the look of my duller, drier skin and gives me a fresher more awake appearance as it delivers that much needed boost of moisture and allows my skin to retain that moisture.

Garnier Skinactive Miracle Anti-Fatigue Wake-Up Hydra-Gel Moisturizer is a lovely little moisturizer that wears well under makeup and doesn’t make this dry skin a greasy mess. It absorbs easily and leaves my skin super refreshed while providing all day moisture so my flaky, drier skin looks great.

Love it!

I also have dry but oily skin so I think I really need to try this!!! Thanks for your review on it 🙂

I’ve been using this for a week and I love it. I have dry, sensitive skin and this gel is great. It does everything you mentioned. Highly recommend.

I like it enough to finish the bottle I got, but I won’t be repurchasing. It does hydrate my skin, which is awesome, but it’s also causing me to break out, which is less awesome.

    • Isabella Muse

aw sorry! Fragrance maybe? or something else in the ingreds not agreeing with ya 🙁

  • Erica

Do you like it better than the Moisture Rescue one or are they equal in quality?

  • Cheryl

How does this perform under concealer? I am having a terrible time lately with flaky, dry skin under my eyes, and none of my existing eye creams or moisturizers seem to want to play well with concealer on the flaking areas. Every morning, I stare in the mirror and try to figure out which looks worse… The flaky bits accented by concealer, or the dark circles! Maybe this moisturizer would help?

    • Isabella Muse

I didn’t apply it under my eyes, it has fragrance and will likely make my eyes water or even irritate them or add further dryness. So I didn’t apply it under that area. I wouldn’t recommend it for that area. Better to invest in a good, moisturizing eye cream!

  • stirfryedshana

This sounds perfect for me! I have super dry skin and have been trying to find more moisturizing stuff to wear under my makeup.

I actually use monistat anti-chafing gel (the smashbox primer dupe) for primer, do you think this would work well under it?

    • Isabella Muse

Hope it works for you stirfryedshana! I’m not sure, I’ve never used monistat as a primer so not sure how it would work under this!

  • Melissa

This is a day cream correct? I think awhile ago you reviewed a few new night creams like yes to the coconut, and first aid beauty??? I currently use cerave night cream and that does work good but I’m looking for something new to try. What do you suggest?

    • Isabella Muse

Yup, I did. This is a day cream! I mean if you’re oily you can likely use it as a night cream but personally I prefer something more richer for evening use. It’s hard to recommend on for you without knowing your skin type! Wanna tell me a little something about what you’re looking for in a night cream and what your skin type is?

      • Melissa

I also prefer something richer at night. My skin is combo. Dry but gets oily on my t zone and forehead. Age fighting would be wonderful but I have only found that in face creams that I use during the day. I would like something a little heavier and really moisturizing but also helps control oil. Then again I’m not that concerned with oil control as my lotion I use in the morning helps with that. Plus I just ordered this lotion you reviewed 🙂

Philosophy Miracle Worker should be a good pick! Anti-aging, moisturizing but not greasy, oily but unfortunately doesn’t help tame oil! 🙂 Hope this helps!? Hope you like Garnier’s formula!!!!!!!!!

Based on your review of this, I decided to try it. I had been using a cream that I liked and hadn’t seen any reason to switch, but you know, first this got such a great review, and second, you know, it’s a gel.
I LOVE IT. I used it one day and my skin looked better immediately. It’s now day 3 and I love it.
THANK YOU for turning me on to a really great product that I wouldn’t have given a second thought about if it wasn’t for your review!

    • Isabella Muse

omg that’s awesome! I’m so happy to hear it Kelly! 🙂 I’m loving it too! Btw, you just purchased this but I have a review of the Nip + Fab Kale Moisturizer upcoming and it is really great too! 😀

I love this moisturizer! Going to get my second bottle tomorrow and the intensive 7 day body lotion too. With what it’s done for my face & neck, I want it all over my body – especially crepey skin of upper arms and knees. Bonnie
