Rimmel The Only 1 Lipsticks

Rimmel The Only 1 Lipstick ($6.29) is a new permanent range of multitasking lipstick that launched with the Rimmel Spring 2016 Collection. Rimmel the Only 1 Lipstick actually isn’t a new formula as it launched in the UK for Fall 2015.

The general idea of The Only 1 Lipstick formula is that it multitasks to provide long lasting color and wear along with a moisture and a comfortable to wear formula. I have to say I’m not a HUGE, huge Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick so I was a little skeptical of the Only 1 Lipstick formula.

Oh and hello, they are Buy 1, Get 1 50% Off at Ulta.com too plus $3.50 off using promo code 303228.

Rimmel The Only 1

Rimmel The Only 1 Lipstick is available in 12 shades and comes in a sleek black tube with a slanted design for easy of application. I have to say it’s a very different look for Rimmel Lipstick and I like it.

The first thing that demands attention here is the fact these lipsticks have a very strong fragrance and flavor. It’s kinda a fruity rose type of flavor and fragrance. I didn’t mind it so much but I think it comes across just as strong as Milani Color Statement Lipstick. So if you’re sensitive, you probably won’t love this element of the formula.

If you can get past the flavor and fragrance the formula is pretty delightful and a truly great addition to Rimmel’s permanent range.

The texture and formula on these lipsticks is superb. Truly a testimony to great drugstore lipstick. They have a slick, easy glide across lips with a smooth, slightly creamy consistency that feels like melted butter during application. You really have to put little pressure on the bullet during application as the formula practically glide across lips by itself. No tugging, no skipping, no patchiness. Just smooth, even, soft, extremely pigmented color with a nice shine. My lips are terribly dry at the moment but I still felt these looked amazing on plus they felt quite delightfully hydrating for the first two hours of wear. All the seven of the shades I tried provide opaque color on a single application and built to gorgeous intensity if I wanted to go even bolder with my look. I loved they had a little hint of a shine as well in the single! Nothing sparkly or glitter, but they looked glossy! Color wore for five hours before fading but during that time I didn’t have an issue with the color losing intensity, migrating, feathering, or drying my lips out. In fact, as I mentioned, my lips felt pleasantly moist for about two hours into the wear.

I saw this at CVS and had to pick up one of the nude shades. I really like it. I think I may purchase another when I go to Ulta or Target.

  • Brian

Naughty Nude and Listen Up look beautiful! I don’t think I will pick any up though because the Color Statement Lipstick fragrance turned me off from the line after buying one. If only they were fragrance free!

    • Isabella Muse

Color Statement was such a great line but man the watermelon smell killed. I THINK they actually stopped doing that in the newer formula! Butter London too, MAN what a fragrance/flavor! It was bad!

  • MariaS

Every shade is fantastic on you. Absolutely pretty. Thank you for the info. After I buy MORE cold meds, I’ll stop to see if my CVS has them

    • Isabella Muse

aw you’re too kind Maria 🙂 you’re welcome! Feel better!!!!

  • Jasmine

Hi Muse! I recently got the nude shade and i wanted to love it cuz the formula was great, but unfortunately, the color was just not working on my tan, deep yellow skintone. It was just way too mauvy and almost looked ashy. So the quest for the drugstore nude lipstick continues (*sob*)
I hope they release more nude shades, hopefully something with a brown/rosy undertone!

    • Isabella Muse

aw sorry Jasmine! Maybe one of the Kate Moss Nudes will fit you when they launch!

  • Katherine T.

Aaargh, why do companies put fragrance in lipstick, espcecially strong fragrance?? I mean does anybody put lipstick on and then dab perfume on top of it???

  • genevieve

As Katherine above says, why do brands put in fragrance in their lipsticks when it annoys/aggravates so many consumers?
Generally I have not been a fan of Rimmel’s lipsticks, but I might try these – especially One of a Kind. Gorgeous colour.
I don’t find Milani’s Statement lipsticks to have a strong flavour/perfume. I will check the next time I use it. I love this brand’s lipsticks so much.
These look really good on you Isabella.

  • Maria

Muse you look great in all the shades. I really like the best of the best!

  • Deb

I picked up Naughty Nude today. It seems like the perfect nude for me (until tomorrow). The color is great , the formula is very nice (especially for the price) BUT the fragrance is a lot to be desired. It’s over powering to the point of nausea.

  • Serra

They look great on you. I can’t believe there’s a long lasting and hydrating lipstick out there. I’m gonna try a couple tomorrow.

  • michelle macdonald

You know, I have the Rose Femme in Milani and while that’s a great color/formula, the watermelon scent is terrible. I noticed the Rimmel had a scent, but it’s way less than the Milani. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy due to the scent. I bought the NN and I really like it – it’s more of a rosy nude, not an orangey brownish nude. Cool toned ladies will like this one. Thanks for your review, Muse!
