Essence Smokey 2 in 1 Khol Kajal Liner

I’ve only seen the Essence Smokey 2 in 1 Khol Kajal Liner ($3.49) in one shade so far but I have hopes they launch a brown shade as this multitasking demon is all the cool.

I should say I’m not really a kohl kinda girl, I prefer regular old eyeliners. But Essence’s formula is actually kinda nifty.

Here’s why!

Essence Smokey 2 in 1 Khol Kajal Liner is a 2 in 1 formula that acts as either a liner or a blendable shadow. It’s a drier yet creamy consistency that glides on easily to create either slim or thicker lines but that isn’t what I thought it excelled at (I like creamier eyeliners than this so I wasn’t impressed with it as an eyeliner!).

I love how I can apply a thicker layer of this on my lash line and use a brush or a q-tip to gently smudge the formula out and bring it up and onto my lid. This produces a rather cool gradient smoky eye look (that’s why I would have loved if they had it in a brown shade!). It’s also a no brainer to do as you don’t need a terribly steady hand to perform this little trick nor do you need to create a super straight line as you’ll be happily smudging it along once it is applied. Although not super slick and creamy this formula still manages to smudge very, very well and goes powdery as you work so it looks like you applied eyeshadow.

Now one thing to take note of is the fact it has a very long tip, longer than ones I’ve seen from kohl pencils like this in the past. I think that tip is part of the reason the pencil is so easy to work with as it covers a wider area of space and I never felt the need to go over the line I created!

So as an eyeliner, well, I like ’em more creamier myself but as a quick smoky eye tool? Totally a score! I don’t have the skill to create a good smoky eye with powder eyeshadow so this allows me to do without the hassle.

And hell, it’s under four bucks.

Gotta love it.

The Essence Smokey 2 in 1 Khol Kajal Liner is available now at Target (Yes! Essence is now sold at Target) or grab it at Ulta and Ulta.com.

Did you try this on your waterline? If so, how long did it last and how well did it wear? I was just at Target and I aaallllmmost picked this up.

No good on the waterline in my opinion, I liked it best as a shadow/smudger! It’s a bit too dry so you don’t get intensity on the waterline at all and color doesn’t really show up.

This sounds so cool! I’m new to the smokey-eye look (and also on a student budget) so this looks like a perfect starting point for me. Could you post a picture of how the liner looked smudged on you? A visual would be handy for a newbie like me 😛 Also, is there more product inside the packaging or is it just what’s visible? And how does it stay pointed?

Btw, you’re my favorite beauty review blogger (I’ve been following religiously for a few years now ) 😀

Will do Catie just give me a few days and I’ll to work it into a post 🙂 aw thank you Catie HUGSSSSSSSS! 😀 Just what’s visible is what you get, kohl’s don’t need to be sharpened, they are used on their side so the point never really dwindles.

Yay thank you! 😀 And thanks for the info on kohls, I had no idea they’re used on their side 😛 I probably would’ve destroyed it hehe.

you’d poke an eye out using it by the point haha. You wanna apply on the side and slide it over your lash line 🙂 Good Luck!!!!!!!!
