What’s Your Favorite Country for Makeup and Fragrance?

international beauty brands

Annyeong haseyo! Hello!

Hope you all had a restful weekend. I have a killer migraine today because they are drilling outside my office window and it’s like a root canal on a Monday morning! Ugh!

So let me find my inner calm by thinking beauty and makeup!

What’s your favorite country for makeup, beauty, and fragrance?

The US?

Japan?

France?

The UK?

This is so hard for me as I love a lot of different brands from across the globe so choosing a favorite is hard, very hard.

I love Korea for skincare. I love Japan for makeup but I also love many of our own brands in the US like Urban Decay, Too Faced, etc…

Fragrance is easy! That’s France!

How about you?

Do share your favorite countries for makeup, beauty, fragrance, and skincare!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I am partial to Korean skincare myself and South Korea is probably my favorite aside from the U.S. where I live.

For me it’s the US because drugstore is much cheaper over there and you have so many brands available. Living in Greece I can’t get Tarte, Hourglass, Kevyn Aucoin, Becca and many more plus I have to pay high shipping fees for ordering from overseas.

Yep, definitely agreed there… Nothing beats the sheer selection available in the US! Here in Finland there’s no such thing as mid-tier; there’s only drugstore or designer and the drugstore stuff costs 2-3x as much as in the US. No Urban Decay, Too Faced, Benefit, Kat von D, Lorac, Tarte, Becca, Hourglass, Sephora, Stila, MUFE, Besame…

        Ohh no!
That’s all my favorite brands, plus drugstore makeup being so much more $…those are depressing thoughts.
You can come stay with me when you visit the u.s and we’ll go to allll the makeup stores. 😉

Oh Love ! Feel better! Migraines are the worst! I have to go with Korea for skincare and Japan for mascara. I cannot for the life of me find any other mascara that I can tolerate.

thanks dear! I vote yes on Japanese mascaras! There formulas are the best!

I would have to say the US as Ive not tried a lot from other countries but I would love to start with the Korean skincare beauty items.

I like Korea for skincare and lip tints.. for makeup I prefer US.. I just wish other brands would be available here. Shipping them is very expensive and will probably get “lost” because of *coughcorruptcough* customs.

Makeup: the US and France. The selection and the prices are a lot better in the US but I love many of the French makeup brands (Laura Mercier, Viseart).

Skincare: Sweden (face products from Cicamed, Beauty Pacific -Danish and body products from Maria Akerberg), UK (Elemis and The body shop body products), France (pharmacy brands – sunscreen, cleansers and makeup removers and some other things from Caudelie and Nuxe), US (sunscreen and Nude skincare). But I can get all the products in Sweden, where I am from, but most of them. The French pharmacy brands and the american products are all much cheaper bought from their home country. The french brands cost about half or less than what they are sold for in the US. I guess it is a lot of import costs and maybe fees to the FDA that brings up the price. If you visit France, buy it there!

    Perfume: France!

This is a difficult question. There are so many brands I like.

    I’d have to go with…
Perfume: United States. I love indie perfumes and most are based on the US. The only non-indie I regularly wear, Beyonce’s perfumes, is also American

Beauty/skincare: Canadian. I like Rocky Mountain Soap’s and B. Kamin’s skincare products and they (and other Canadian brands) suit my sensitive skin.

Makeup: United States. Most of the moderately priced brands I purchase are from the States. Same with the indie brands. It’s the best option.

For makeup it would have to be the US – so many brands to choose from like UD, Tom Ford etc. Also your DS brands are so much cheaper in your country.
We don’t really have a mid tier makeup range in Australia – it’s either HE or your DS range. The international shipping rates plus taxes makes shipping here very expensive.
For skincare I used Australian brands because they are much cheaper and easier to purchase. I use the Ego QV range for cleansing, moisturisers and serums. I also use the Natio range as well. Both are cruelty free.
