Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Luminous Blush Review & Swatches
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Luminous Blush ($34) is a new selection of blushes inspired by Becca’s bestselling Shimmering Skin Perfectors. These gorgeous blush shades were created to use alone to create a subtle luminous flushed appearance on skin or layered on top of your favorite matte blush to add radiance.
I’m not really a fan of Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector or any super shimmery highlighters in general. I have a round face, and I think shimmer on my cheeks or face can really accentuate the roundness of my face. This isn’t to say I don’t like luminous or shimmery blushes because I do but I don’t like hardcore highlighters that give me a “strobing” or shimmery finish.
This is one reason I was worried about purchasing and trying the new Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Luminous Blush range. But the thing that worried me most is the fact I didn’t like Becca’s Beach Tint Shimmer Soufflé and these blushes seemed like a variation of that formula. They way they describe the finish as being “subtle” and to be used with other blushes had me thinking they would be a lot of shimmer with little color.
How wrong was I?
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Luminous Blush launched in two shades for Sephora VIB Rouge members early, and there will be six total shades available shortly for everyone to purchase. I was able to purchase Snapdragon, which is a lovely coral and Tigerlily with is a shimmering tangerine. These come in Becca’s standard brown compact with a silver face plate. They kind of remind me of a hubcap! The blushes are 0.21 oz each.
These are very, very interesting because they do have a super shimmery topcoat but that swatches away quickly. Below I swatched Tigerlily with the shimmery overcoat, and I swatched Snapdragon without it, and you can see that the topcoat gives Tigerlily a ton of shimmery goodness, but Snapdragon is considerably more subtly shimmery in comparison. I also took photos of Snapdragon with the shimmer overcoat and without it so you can see the difference. I think at a glance they might scare those who aren’t fans of shimmery blushes but just know that these do have a stronger shimmer overcoat which dusts away to reveal a much more subtle radiant blush beneath.
As I mentioned above since Becca recommends using them with other blushes and even calls them “subtle” I was a bit worried. I thought maybe they’d act as more of a highlighter and perhaps have little color pay off. Not the case at all! These have excellent color pay off that can be applied sheer or bolder. The formula is soft, smooth, and easy to blend. They have a luminous sheen that’s gorgeous but doesn’t give off a disco ball look in the least. This isn’t shimmer overkill in the least but merely a pretty subtle luminous radiance. I never felt the shimmer accentuated drier areas, and I am doubtful it will accentuate pores as for me the shimmer is very subtle and translates to a beautiful glow. The wear time is excellent as well at 12 hours with minor fading, but the color was still lovely and vibrant at hour 12.
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Luminous Blush are a tricky little product that looks way more shimmery than they actually are. These blushes are not only long wearing, but they provide beautiful luminosity to cheeks with a soft, easy to apply formula.
