Getting ready for work today, I somehow managed to get my mascara for my left eye all clumpy. I tried separating my eyelashes, but made it worse. My right eye looks fine and my left eye looks like I have 3 single eyelashes. I am probably over stressing, but it is all I can think about as I work.

    • Isabella Muse

lol this has so happened to me! Aww hugs try not to stress it my dear! We all have those days!

I make blunders all the time! Usually it’s a heavy hand using blush, or getting eye shadow fall or all over my face

Some aren’t my fault necessarily – such as a sunscreen I’m using not playing nicely with a primer or serum or foundation and I get the peelies. I hate when things peel – drives me nuts!!

Oh! Once I tried to do the recommended amount of sunscreen using Dr Jart BB cream with SPF 45 and …. Disaster !!

    • Isabella Muse

hand in the air on that one! I’m always heavy with my blush! LOL! god don’t you hate the shot glass recommendation for SPF? It’s just overkill!

  • Lindsay

I’d been using Wet n’ Wild Reserve Your Cabana all over my face to set my foundation, until I started to see pictures of myself where it looked like I was sweating profusely, haha.

This morning I knocked over my bottle of Urban Decay Gash. It shattered and nail polish got everywhere. T_T

      • kare

I have concrete floors (my building was an office in the 1930s). Easy cleanup, but way more broken things.

        • Isabella Muse

still gash is so damn bright! Ugh! That was probably not a fun clean up job!

    • amy

My daughter has done that on more than one occasion… Since you can’t do any more damage to the carpet, you can try pouring nail polish remover directly on the spot, then blotting with paper towels (DO NOT RUB!!!). This may take multiple tries, so just keep repeating until it’s gone. Also, use “regular” formula remover (or even straight acetone), not one for “strengthening”, “moisturizing”, etc…

Not really a blunder but a dream I had last night! I dreamt I put shimmery bronzer all over my cheeks and jaw and my friends laughed at me. 🙁

I keep several miscellaneous products in an old train case I got as a PWP from a Lancome haul several years ago, and most of these are “DIY” eyeshadow palettes made from children’s watercolors cases. Just the other day, I grabbed the case, and although the clasp was connected, the back completely unhinged. Needless to say, everything came tumbling out… Fortunately, only a couple of old DS shadows shattered, but the one that was completely obliterated was a very pigmented black, which got all over the beige carpet… I now grab any case/bin by the base, not by the handle, LOL!

I vacuumed immediately, and the rest should be easy to spot-clean, and I do need to shampoo my capet soon, anyway.

        • Isabella Muse

You’re my hero! I did that once and ended up ripping up my entire carpet lol!

  • kimkats

I’m also in the heavy handed blush line!! And (I do this more than I care to admit) I blink when I’m putting on mascara – SMEAR-VILLE everywhar!!! takes half a box of cotton swabs to clean up that mess… Grrr.. did it just this morning too! Happy. Friggin’. Tuesday.

    • Isabella Muse

you have no idea the grief I get on here because I’m totally heavy handed with blush 😀

Sometimes if I’m autopiloting and not especially awake I’ll start applying UD eyeshadow primer potion to the rest of my face. Last week I started putting on Ceramidin day tint after I’d already done and set my makeup. I was really out of it XD

    • Isabella Muse

LOL! I tend to apply my blush/face makeup before foundation on days I’m really tired!

I was using the new tarteist eyeliner the other day. I was doing my eyeliner in my magnifying mirror. It looked great so then I backed up to look in my regular mirror and my whole cheek was covered in liner!!! Not only that, but I looked at !my hands and they were covered too!! Well I get everything cleaned up and decided after that traumatic event it would be a pony tail day. So I gather my hair in a ponytail and get ready to leave. Look back at my hands….. EYELINER EVERYWHERE!!! It was in my dark hair too! Idk what happened…maybe a small bit popped out of the tube and got in my hair? Im very cautious now when using!!!

    • Isabella Muse

oh no! totally has happened to me before with mascara! I dunno how but it literally ended up everywhere not to mention on my white shirt!

      • HannahS

Omg! Always has to be a white shirt day when that stuff happens! PS my mom and I were randomly talking and I found out she reads ur posts two. So we both have been reading ur stuff for 2yrs and always check weekly to see what you like before we buy! By far our favorite beauty guru!

        • Isabella Muse

Omg too cute Hannah! 🙂 I love that I have you both as my readers 🙂 AND YES! OMG Anytime I have white on! And not only makeup but food, drinks, etc…I’m always spilling stuff on myself when I have white on!

  • Dee

I had on waaaay too much blush the other day and really felt like a clown when I caught a glimpse of myself in the rearview mirror. I’ve also gone out with only one eye with mascara on it before. Couldn’t quite figure out why I looked so strange that day.

    • Isabella Muse

LOL Dee! OMG! I love that “I couldn’t figure out why I looked so strange that day!”

    • Rachel Runyan

I’ve forgotten mascara on one or both eyes so often, I now carry a tube in my purse at all times.

  • Rachel Runyan

I somehow managed to get black liquid eyeliner in my eye the other day. I wasn’t using it on my waterlines…not sure how I did it. Anyway, it stung like crazy, and I had to use cotton swabs to get it all out. Of course it made my eyes water, so I had to fix my eyeshadow. Grrrr!!!!!!

  • Silver girl

Used to work in a bakery and had to start before the sun came up. Getting ready in dark home (family sleeping) and accidentally used matt plum colored shadow to fill in my blonde eyebrows. Told my amused coworkings that Punk lives!

  • Kimmwc03

Well, I tried out a new blue gel eyeliner the other day and I still have blue residue even after using Bi-Facil and cleansing oil a few times. Three days later and I can still say a faint line close to my upper lash line. Does that count?

  • Iris

I have a lipstick by Melt Cosmetics which has good colour payoff and looks amazing but requires a lipstick base, as it’s dry. I was too lazy to use the base after work and applied the lipstick. Upon seeing me, my mother said my lipstick looked splotchy and unevenly applied. Oops!

  • danadoo

The other day i decided that i dont use my Urban Decay Electric palette enough, so i proceeded to do a full on “look” before heading to work. I applied some of the acid green color to my creases with what i thought was a light hand, and then i used the really shiny green color under my eyes. Now mind you, in my gloomy poorly lit apartment, this looked artsy and fun. However, under the megawat flourescent lighting at work i looked like a damn clown! All day long i felt like a huge freak and could not wait for the day, and the humiliation to be over! Never again will i “experiment” with the Electric palette on a work day!

    Getting lipstick on my teeth…..
Mascara streaking my glasses like wind shield wipers……
Not smoothing in my foundation enough…..
    Forgetting to put on mascara…
Yep, we have all had those.

I tested out a new mascara (NYC Lovatics) and a different undereye concealer for work (I’m an elementary art teacher) and by midday I had black speckles all over my cheeks and my undereye concealer was creasing. When a kiddo asked what it was, I told her that I got splattered by paint during the class before. Yeeps! I keep a makeup bag at my desk just for moments like this!

  • Jen

When I bought Pixi’s Brightening Peach Corrector, I wore it under my eyes alone, without concealer, many times before looking at myself in natural light and discovering how bad it looked. Peachy undereyes aren’t cute on me.
