Tarte The Lip Sculptor Lipstick & Lipgloss

Tarte The Lip Sculptor Lipstick & Lipgloss ($24 or a duo for $29 at QVC.com) are a new lipstick slash lipgloss duo that launched with the Ulta Exclusive Tarte Double Duty Beauty Collection recently.

These are probably my favorite lip product of the moment. I mean so much so I’m thinking that if I had to choose one lipstick and one lipgloss to use for the rest of my life it would be these new Tarte The Lip Sculptor Lipstick & Lipglosses!

Tarte already has an Amazon Butter Double-Ended Lipstick Creme & Lip Tint Duo for a while now, but I have to say they really did an outstanding job with the new Tarte The Lip Sculptor Lipstick & Lipglosses.

I’m that type of person that applies lipstick but I end up applying lipgloss on top because I like the glossiness and shine that gloss provides. So, essentially, Tarte is combining the best of both worlds with these duos which can be customized any way you want. Wear the lipgloss only, just wear the lipstick, or go ahead and wear both like I do, these duos give you a nice variety of ways to wear your lipstick and gloss. Add in the fact the packaging is super travel-friendly (no need to carry two products) and you have the perfect lip product.

The gold barrel features the lipstick on top with the gloss tucked neatly into the bottom of the barrel. The gloss weights in at 0.06 oz where as the lipstick is 0.12 oz in size.

Weirdly enough the lipstick formula is marketed as a satin matte lipstick but for me the consistency is a thin, super slick, highly pigmented formula with a slightly shiny finish. The lipstick alone wears for a good five hours and during that wear my lips felt pleasantly moist and comfortable. The gloss side is far from sheer and packs a good deal of color pay off so wearing it alone is a great option. It’s a thinner, moisturizing formula that doesn’t feel sticky or tacky and wears for a four hours with a pleasantly hydrating feel through the wear. Both the gloss and lipstick contain coconut oil, maracuja, and Vitamin E and are mineral oil free with a sweet vanilla flavor and fragrance that disappears a few minutes after application.

I was very, very pleasantly surprised how comfortable and hydrating this formula is. Whether I was wearing the lipstick or lipgloss alone or both together my dry lips felt pleasantly moist and comfortable. The color remained true and intense through the wear and didn’t migrate, feather, or creep around my upper lip line. It’s a emollent formula that leaves lips drenched in moisture and soft and smooth well after it wears away.

I don’t normally talk about colors in my reviews as I stink at describing shades. But I have to say ALL of these shades are such a joy to use and should be universally flattering on many skin tones. There’s a rich selection of berries and roses here as well as wearable nudes. You’re bound to come across at least five or six colors you’ll want to take home for you. And the formula remains consistent with each shade so I never had issues with bad performance on any of the colors, each one looked amazing and performed fantasically.

Overall, Tarte The Lip Sculptor Lipstick & Lipgloss is a must have. I can’t recommend these enough. Moist, smooth, beautiful color in a range of gorgerous shades what more could a girl or guy want?

Very Muse Approved.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Hi Isabella! Which blush do you have on with the Lipsculptor in Basic? Also, do you have any dupe suggestions for Basic? I am obsessed and I’m worried Tarte is going to stop making it and I’ll be out of luck.

    Love you,
    Jen

Isabella, I really enjoy your makeup reviews. They are very informative and updated. I like your approach and no-nonsense explanations. There is one thing that bothers me though, and that is your profile picture. It is not very flattering and it looks photoshopped for every product you’re displaying. I believe you and the products you are trying on would look much more natural if you faced the camera directly straight on. You need to let your hair down and styled. And use different facial expressions. It looks a bit odd the way every picture looks the exact way. Your website is one of my favorites but I feel there is a lot of room for improvement regarding how you show the beauty products.

    • Isabella Muse

Hi Janeen. Thanks so much, glad you enjoy the reviews. I try to remain consistent with my photos in each of the review. Obviously, I’m no model 🙂 nor am I a great photographer so I try to retain and to keep things consistent as possible in my review in the hopes it gives people are a general idea of the product. I like my hair pushed away from my face when I am working. This is how I prefer doing my hair and don’t really like it down during the work day as it is unruly, very long, and very wavy which means it can get in my face etc…so, I prefer it up. I’m sorry the photos aren’t helpful to you! I’ll def look for ways to improve in the future. Thanks for your advice!

      • Jessica

I love your consistency of pictures. Also, I bought five of these lip sculptors today — thanks for the review.

      • Janeen

Thank you for your reply. I bet your hair is beautiful! It takes a lot of work to do your reviews, and I really do find them helpful! I am a very visual person and just prefer a direct full face display of the products. I look forward to your ongoing reviews of products!

        • Isabella Muse

my pleasure! It does indeed. I have a full-time job as well plus life so all this and the blog keep me very busy 😀 I understand but I’m not the most photographic person in the world 😀 I find the whole selfie thing a little awkward at times!

    • Alisha Miller

Wow, that was bossy and rude! Everyone has room for improvement, but I think your inappropriate lack of politeness needs improvement the most!

  • Caren

Thank you for showing how the colors really look. Very helpful..
