Beauty Budget Shoppers Seeking Inexpensive Highlighters

Catrice Highlighting Powder

On a beauty budget and seeing an inexpensive highlighter? No problem! Catrice has you covered with their new Highlighting Powders!

Available in two shades selections, Catrice Highlighting Powders are a mere $5.99 each.

Take a peek!

Experts need apply here as Catrice Highlighting Powders are pretty pigmented so you really need to get this on your face in the correct locations and buff, buff, buff, buff until you get the most soft focused finish.

Each powder has a thin, silky formula with a frost finish that can be sheered out by buffing and blending out well. I struggled a little with these as they are quite pigmented so I had a hard time just dusting them on and going. You want to put them in just the right locations in and around your face to get the best benefit from them. In my case, I ended up using a smaller facial brush and apply at the upper parts of my cheekbones and blended upwards towards the inner corners of my eyes. Don’t be scared to put a little elbow grease into your blending game as I think these look nicest when you buff them out to a super fine finish.

They do create that coveted strobing look everyone is crazy about lately but they aren’t subtle about it so it isn’t necessarily a natural lighting effect. If you do want something more natural I’d suggest the shade Champagne Campaign over Stardust. Stardust is a pale white pink that produces more of a brightening effecting that the sheer, more subtle beige shimmer of Champagne Campaign.

If you’re not wanting to spend near $50 on some of the newer highlighting powders releasing at the moment you can definitely get a lovely effect with Catrice Highlighting Powders! Just be sure to bring your A blending game!

Available now, exclusively at Ulta.com.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I was literally on the quest for inexpensive, cruelty free, and good shade for super pale highlighter this weekend! I ended up going NYX and I had a coupon, so it was a win. I’ll definitely be looking into these though! Yay!

What did you get from NYX? I’m very pale too and looking for a good highlighter.

I went a little crazy… I got the Illuminator powder singles in Ritualistic and Chaotic. Ritualistic shows up but is kind of subtle. Chaotic I LOVE as a blush shade. I also got the Strobe of Genius pallet, now this thing is AWESOME! It’s 7 shades! The palest one in the bottom right corner is super pigmented and shows up really well on me. (And I don’t have to super layer it on either.) There’s also a lavender that I think helps give an extra bit of light to us pale folk. Definitely check them out!
