MAC Charlotte Olympia Lipstick

MAC Charlotte Olympia Lipstick is available in three gorgeous red shades for a limited time. As you may know British designer, Charlotte Olympia recently collaborated with MAC on an entire collection inspired by old Hollywood glamour and pin-up beauties from the past.

And for me, nothing speaks the language of old Hollywood like a glamorous, bold, rich red lipstick! And Charlotte brings us three gorgeous reds in this collection! One of which I’m about to review for you!

MAC Starlett Scarlet Lipstick ($18) is one of the three shades released with the MAC x Charlotte Olympia Collection. This is a gorgeous, richly pigmented warm, bright red lipstick with a matte finish that has a super creamy texture.

I love the special edition packaging on these lipsticks. Each comes housed in a clear square barrel with gold accents and Charlotte’s name on the front. It’s a very different style packaging for MAC and quite simple yet modern!

If you read my site you realize how uncomfortable I am in red lipstick but this shade was sheer perfection. The texture is super creamy with an easy glide on lips and a solid six hours of wear. I experience no issues with dryness during the wear and the color didn’t migrate or feather during that wear, it does leave a stain behind as it fades but color remains very intense throughout the wear. A single pass produced rich, bold color pay off and the color just got more and more intense with each layer applied. I was worried about the matte finish being too drying but the color remained incredibly lightweight and very, very comfortable to wear. Obviously, it didn’t really add moisture to my lips but it didn’t suck it away either.

The color is indeed a very Old Hollywood shade or even one you might see a pin-up beauty like Dita Von Teese sporting! Finding a red lipstick that not only wears incredibly but also applies well and looks beautiful is such a rarity for me so I was beyond thrilled with MAC Starlett Scarlet Lipstick.

This one gets a big Muse Approval. This one deserves a backup purchase!

I’d highly suggest checking it out!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. Wow, that is a gorgeous red and looks great on you. I like a nude pink on me and am not comfortable wearing red or any dark color myself as well. But when I see a gorgeous red like this I still want it! I will be checking it out later this week and hope that I can still find it!
