About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. If you’re that person feel free to reach out and leave a comment or follow me on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Bloglovin‘.

If you put your name in the email location it’ll bring you to an area where you can place the box in your cart. hope this helps.

      • Lisha

Nope. I signed up like 6 mths ago & have never received an email & I have been trying the past few days & I just get the red message of being put on a waiting list, but many other people I know were able to purchase. I don’t understand???

  • Carolyn2

Used your link to sign up! Yay! I’ve been waiting to get this subscription. I hope it’s good. Some of the YouTube unboxings have been ‘meh’ but dork that I am, I still get excited getting stuff in the mail.

I just signed up for the PopSugar mini boxes and my first one arrived the other day. Got a candle ( darn it, smells like melon ) and a farmacy strawberry lip balm.

I heard Macy’s will be doing a box too, but I haven’t been heard anything on that lately

    Fun fun

    • Isabella Muse

haha I saw the unboxings too and I was ahhhh mehhhhh but I’m still kinda excited to get it. I don’t really like these beauty boxes but I figure, sephora sooo! 🙂

      • Carolyn2

Funny. After I received my confirmation email I received my invitation email! So guess they crossed paths.

  • Staci

I signed up after your update that it’s no longer available. So maybe it’s available in some areas still.

    • Isabella Muse

Staci, it looks like the spots did fill up. I guess keep checking back and hopefully it’ll be up again!

  • Staci

No, I DID get it. Ive gotten my confirmation email already. It’s weird. On a Facebook group some women are saying they can still sign up others can’t. Some people are saying it’s based on where you live.

  • Caroline

I think they have indeed rolled this out slowly according to geography. I’ve been getting the box since last October or November and have enjoyed it quite a bit. The most recent one was the best box I’ve received yet, so hopefully it will just get better and better! I’m considering canceling my Birchbox subscription and just sticking with this, although I do enjoy the Birchbox points system quite a bit. Still, I think the Sephora box is usually a great value!

    • Isabella Muse

I think Ohio got it first but after that I lost track of it. 10 bucks seems like a good deal so I thought I’d try!

    • Shannon

Are the “collectible bags” different each month that the samples come in?

  • Effie

Just signed you using your link! Yay! I’ve been wanting to sign up and on the wait list for a long while, thanks for your post!

    • Isabella Muse

fantastic 🙂 enjoy Effie 🙂 I hope it is good! you are so welcome <3!

  • Jen R

I’m in the DC area and got my official invitation a few weeks ago and am supposed to be receiving the April box! Very excited, since, like many, I’ve been on the wait list since the very beginning. Good luck, everyone!

  • Dora

I FINALLY weaned myself off of Birchbox. I just don’t need all that . . . . stuff and would rather spend my money where I want to spend it. However, as soon as I quit Birchbox, I started buying Target and Walmart boxes — I have no idea why. (Maybe because I just want mail? Are they like the methadone of the beauty subscription boxes?) Hoping to avoid the Sephora box altogether but looking forward to reading your reviews!

    • Isabella Muse

This is my problem with beauty boxes. They are fun and cute and stuff but after a while it’s too much stuff. I’m going to give Sephora a try out for a month maybe two if I like it I’ll keep if not I’ll likely not bother. It’s ridiculous, everyone has a box. I see all these people subscribed to like 5 different boxes which is likely costing them a bit of cash, for that I could buy myself one nice fragrance or one nice blush/palette versus having a bunch of samples of stuff I don’t like!

      • Dora

Exactly! Also, it drives me crazy when people talk about the “value” of the boxes. Like, this box has a value of $54 and it only cost $10! I’m no economics major, but if it’s a bunch of stuff you don’t really want and wouldn’t otherwise buy, then it’s not of ANY value to you. Ditto when people talk about getting stuff for “free” with Birchbox points — umm, no, you paid for those points. It’s part of the subscription model. Err, sorry — didn’t mean to get on a subscription box rant . . .

        • Isabella Muse

Nope, you’re right. I did a post about this a while ago (https://www.musingsofamuse.com/2013/03/musings-of-the-day-do-you-dig-beauty-boxes.html) and why I’m just not a fan! It’s such unboxing of crap. It’s one reason I stopped buying Memebox because as cute as everything was I noticed, “HEY! Wait, I’m not using this stuff!” Why spend $19.99 or more on a box that has maybe one or two items I use? I could use that $20 to go to the movies, buy new manga, buy a new blush or lipgloss, that I will use. I swear some people that do these unbox videos and posts must be subscribed to like 5 or more boxes which must cost them $60 to $100 a month to maintain, it just seems a waste. However, I shouldn’t judge as they might look at my posts and think “Ugh she’s spending too much on this and this makeup why is she buying all that?” so I guess to each or her own 🙂

  • Megan

I’ve been getting the box since the beginning and I really like it! I’ve done a few other beauty boxes, but I just hate totally random brands/samples and never really felt like I got my money’s worth. I like that the potential brands are more controlled and everything I’ve gotten so far has been a good size. Some have been previous point perks, but it doesn’t really bother me. It’s totally worth the price, if you ask me 🙂

    • Isabella Muse

I was hopeful that at $10 bucks it might be stuff I’d not only use but also stuff maybe that is upcoming which I can test out before it launches! It’s good to hear you like it Megan! I def want to see how I think!

  • Monet

Thanks so much! I’ve been on the waitlist forever and didn’t think I would get to subscribe for a while! I just got to sign up and can’t wait!

  • breyerchic04

My best friend has a cincinatti address so she’s been getting them since the first month and loves it compared to any other box. I signed up and can’t wait!

    • Isabella Muse

Yeah! I remember when it first launched, Ohio was one of the first states to get it. I’m glad! Makes me feel better I ordered as I was kinda wishy washy about it!

      • breyerchic04

The april box looks great to me. As much as you buy and sample already, it might not be as exciting, but it still looks better than any other box I’ve done.

  • Elizabeth S.

Hi Muse! I’ve been receiving the Play box for 5 months now and I love it. Do I still get things I won’t use? Of course – that’s the risk that you have to know you’re taking. But seriously, I canceled ipsy and a couple of others. I now only receive this and FabFitFun. Sephora always has large samples, and you get 50 free points when you shop in store with the coupon that comes with it. Seriously the best subscription box for me.

    • Isabella Muse

awesome thanks Elizabeth for the review! and equally cool with the 50 points! I can’t wait to try it!

    • Isabella Muse

I don’t think it’s available in Canada, it just now got launched in a few states here in the US.

  • AnniLau

I put myself of the waitlist when this first started in limited markets, and then completely forgot about it. Your post reminded me to go check the email account I use for shopping and my invitation was there. So thanks!

  • Christine Nguyen

i just got my email and signed up! i’m hoping it’ll be a good subscription box! i had Ipsy but cancelled it mid 2015, and currently have the 3bbox (asian skincare and products). i don’t know if i should cancel that one now, but we’ll see how the Sephora box goes! very excited!

  • Courtney

I’m in Indiana and have gotten it for a few months now and really like it. Definitely worth $10.

  • Kayla

I was sooo pumped when I got the email yesterday! Even though I’m already subscribed to ipsy and Birchbox, I just had to take the plunge. I’m just wondering if my first box will be this month’s (April) or next months?

  • Maria A.

I was on the wait list for like 3 months and finally yesterday I got an e mail that I have to subscribe within 15 of the e mail or they give up ur spot. I’m not going to lie I am pretty damn excited

    • Isabella Muse

My pleasure! Kinda different vibe from the original 🙂 but still awesome!

  • Jennifae

I started getting a Sephora box in January 2016, and so far I have loved every single box I’ve received!

  • Onyx

I’ve tried 3 different browsers, and two different computers. I’m still getting the waitlist message and I’ve been trying since yesterday. I’m starting to think I wasn’t meant to get this box. I give up.

  • Lisa Smith

I got my invite and I’m all signed up! Personally I love subscription boxes. They’re a way of letting me find products I otherwise might not of heard of before. Ofra , Sumita, Mitchell and Peach Fine Radience oil,( which I’m now having a terrible time getting, but anywhoooo)
I love Ofra’s liquid lipsticks and Universal brow pencil and Sumita’s eye liners and I would never have tried any of these if I hadn’t gotten them in my boxes. So, yeah I’m a beauty box girl
and am pretty excited about the Sephora box!

My comments are still awaiting moderation. For days. Here and another post. I guess I don’t need to bother commenting any more at all. *sigh*

    • Isabella Muse

Hi Onxy, you left comments on the 15th at 5.03pm which is when I leave for the day on Friday. You left another on the 16, I don’t get to comments from the weekend until Monday as Saturday/Sunday I just step away from online stuff and live a little 🙂 Today I was very, very busy at work so I’m behind a good deal. Apologies for the delay in moderating your comments, I’ll go ahead and approve them now. There are 276 comments awaiting moderation at the moment thus the delay! The weekend comments piled up. I don’t blog full time and I had a good deal of “real life” work to do today. So I’m sorry about the delay but I hope it won’t stop you from commenting. It’s only been a few days between your comments so you haven’t been awaiting moderation too long, apologies again!

      • Onyx

This will teach me not to internet when I’m stressed about other things irl. I wanted to apologise for my tone here and for being a general whiner. You rock, and I love your blog.

        • Isabella Muse

Hey, sorry 🙁 everything alright? It’s Monday, everything goes wrong on Monday 🙂 I had a hell of a day myself! Don’t worry about it, no reason to apologize. I’m sorry about the delay. Def trying to play catch up 🙂 Thank <3! I hope you have a better day today <3!!!! try not to stress, keep your chin up!

Hi,I got an invite to Sephora Play yesterday but unfortunately when I went to the site and put my email address it said spaces were filled. Don’t understand this at all as lots of people are complaining they got invite and the same thing happened to them. I live in NYC and Sephora store is very popular. I wonder if it’s because I live in NYC and Sephora Play has not come here yet. So confused
