I picked up Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Hydrating Mud Mask at Walgreens earlier last month and decided to give it a whirl since it promised me it was going to intensely moisturize my skin. Yes, please, that sounds good.

How bad could it be? I mean this contains shea butter so that sounds good to me!

Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Hydrating Mud Mask comes in a big old 4.0 oz tub for $14.99. Or get it at Ulta.com at Buy 1, Get 1 50% Off (All Shea Moisture products) or at Target.com at buy 1, get 1 25% off.

This is a super thick, creamy mud mask that dries to a super dry, stiff finish. To use it you’ll simply apply a thin layer onto your face and leave on for ten minutes. It feels very cool and refreshing during the wear but but has a stiff paper mache kinda feeling as it dries. It’s a little difficult to wash off so you do need need to wipe it off with a wet washcloth. There’s a bit of scrubbing invovled to remove it completely.

It does have a weird fragrance that I wasn’t thrilled with. It’s kinda a musky frankincense and myrrh fragrance that I wasn’t particularly keen on.

My skin actually felt a bit tight but not nesscarily dry after using it but really, really smooth. I didn’t get the intense moisture they promised but it seemed to smooth out and refine my skin very nicely. So far, since purchasing it, I used it four times. I felt like my skincare absorbs a little easier after using this and even my makeup seemed to adhere better to my skin. This was a nice benefit of the mask but I really didn’t love how tight it left me feeling. I’ll likely use the rest of this but I’m doubtful I’ll repurchase it!

Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Hydrating Mud Mask isn’t quite what one would expect for a mask created for drier skin. There are some benefits from using it but not quite the moisturizing factor I expected from it at all!

Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Hydrating Mud Mask is available now at drugstores or at Target.com and ulta.com.

I have always found mud masks to be drying.. This one is just bizarre – it’s got 2 types of clay listed then it lists shea butter. C’mon, guys… make up your minds! Is it a drying clay mask or a moisturizing shea butter one? You can’t do both at once!! Might be ok in summer, but I’d run screaming from it in winter!

I love their soaps and shower gels! I bought a huge lot of them sometime last year during Walgreens BOGO sale (with coupons yay!) I see they have a makeup line too, sold at Target, have you ever tried any of the makeup items Musey? I’d love to hear your opinion!

I haven’t! Sadly, the makeup wasn’t available in any Targets around my area and I hate ordering from target’s site. They also sell it at Ulta now but haven’t seen it in stores, only online!

Darn! I always come check you first before making a purchase even if I’m pretty sure what I want. I probably should hold my horses anyways, I’m on a budget these days and makeup is down the list, though I did give in and order 2 lipsticks from Urban Decay during their half off sale. Thanks for replying!
