Can Lipstick Have Both a Matte and Metallic Finish?

milani Amore Mattallics Lip Creme

Can liquid lipstick have both a matte and a metallic finish? Apparently that’s the case with the new Amore Mattallics Lip Crème!

Amore Mattallics Lip Creme ($8.99) is a new limited edition metallic matte liquid lip creme available in eight shade selections for Summer 2016. Let it be known that Milani Fierce Foil Brilliant Shine Lipgloss wasn’t the great formula in the world so I do question a matte metallic finish lipstick.

This could get messy…?

Amore Mattallics are actually a follow up to wildly popular Milani’s Amore Matte Lip Creme that the brand simply could not keep in stock on the original launch. This new version promises just as much pigment as the original but with a metallic matte finish.

They actually wear for up to 12 hours and require an oil-based cleanser to remove them.

This worries me.

I find metallic lip products tend to leave behind a good deal of gunky glitter at times so imagine wearing one for 12 hours? Hopefully Milani’s discovered the secrets to life, the universe, and everything with this formula so it’ll wear long without cracking and leaving a flaky, glittery mess on your lips!

I’m intrigued!

These are available now at milanicosmetics.com.

I haven’t! Not sure I need ’em 🙂 dry lips don’t agree with formulas like this!

I guess “matte metallic” makes more sense than the “matte gloss” finishes some brands have put out. Honestly, it feels to me as though companies are just sticking “matte” on everything to make it sell.

These are a huge hit with me! I bought 4 shades at Walgreens, tried them on & then had to go get the rest of the shades to complete the collection the very next day. I like them even more than the original range. I don’t find them to be chunky or glittery or flaky or crumbly, & I don’t have a hard time removing them at the end of the day- a Simple micellar wipe does the trick. they wear forever & don’t budge, which I like. I also have dry lips Muse but with some Eos under these they are comfy, I’m in love!!!

I bought two as well and i LOVE THEM. They feel so light on the lips. They are metallic/glitter. You will feel pretty 90’s with them, but they look so pretty on. The applicator is nice and they layer easy, to me. Definitely worth it to me, especially for the price point.

I overdosed on matte a long time ago, but that darker gold looking color has me intrigued. I guess I’ll have to stalk the stores around me so I can get one the instant they put the display out. The displays usually only hold one of two items of each color, so if you miss it, you can forget it.

Wet and wild had something like this, but they claim it wasn’t matte. I hope these are better.

I have 3 of those and they are most definitely a gloss. They are really really pretty though and if you didn’t want them super opaque, they are easy to sheer out. They are gloss though. Not super sticky, more on the slick side which i like.
