NYX Lid Lingerie

NYX Lid Lingerie ($7) is a new cream eyeshadow or what the brand calls “a weightless eye tint with delicate pearl”. Does anyone remember NYX Cream Shadow? I feel like Lid Lingerie is a vast improvement on that formula.

I used to hate cream eyeshadows with a passion but I started liking them a lot because they are so simple to apply and you can get a really pretty eye look from them in seconds. Sometimes, that’s all you need when you’re rushing around in the morning like a chicken without a head you know?

NYX Lid Lingerie are available in 12 shade selections each of which comes in a 0.13 oz barrel with an attached sponge applicator. NYX emphasizes that these are an “eye tint” across the packaging but personally I associate the formula with a cream eyeshadow due to the pigmentation which is excellent. If they were a mere eye tint you’d see a sheerer color pay off in my opinion. I purchased four shades and all four had excellent color pay off aside from New Romance which was a little sheerer but most definitely still noticeable on lids.

The formula is quite the same as the original NYX Cream Shadows with a thicker, creamy consistency but the blending is much, much easier. I find a little goes a very, very long way so start with a small amount and work up the color as needed. They don’t have a super quick set which enables you to have plenty of time to blend and also to layer. Building is fairly easy and the product never goes cakey as you apply more but of course, you want to do this before it sets completely to avoid a mess. They do crease at around seven hours in but remain vibrant without color fading. I find once they start creasing you can actually pat them back into place with your finger but primer will have them wearing all day without creasing issues. I have drier eyes so, I’m not sure how oily lids will fair with this formula!

If you really like the intensity of the original NYX Cream Shadow but not the difficult to blend formula that never set, I’m pretty sure you’ll be excited about NYX Lid Lingerie. This formula is a vast improvement with an easier to blend formula that sets to a good long wear. Sure, there’s a little bit of creasing but eyeshadow primer saves the day!

NYX Lid Lingerie is available now nyxcosmetics.com and should be launching soon at Ulta.com.

Ooh, I feel like New Romance might be a dupe for a cream eyeshadow that I’ve finished — and was such a great color for me. And it was a VERY small makeup line, long gone. Is it more on the orange side?

    • Isabella Muse

It’s actually kind of a duochrome and shifts a little bit greenish. It is indeed orange but not a bright orange! I’d say a light, sheer orange with a green tinge. Hope this makes sense?! 😀

Are these similar to the Jordana Made to Last Cream Eyeshadows? Do you like these over them?

    • Isabella Muse

I like the Jordana’s ones better. The textures are similar but the color are more intenser and shimmery with Jordana’s version.

  • Alys

Oh I will have to try these! I love how a nice gunmetal shadow looks on me but eyeshadow makes me itch like crazy! Maybe a cream is the answer!

  • Carol G

Thanks for the great review. I am obsessed with cream eyeshadow and when I saw these on your blog awhile back I was truly excited. They sound terrific! I am eagerly awaiting their arrival at Ulta so I can use a coupon.

    • Isabella Muse

my pleasure Carol! I think you’ll like! The formula is just right! Plenty of time to blend and they build well not that you’ll need too as they are pigmented on a single application ;D a little creasing but eyeshadow primer to the rescue!

  • Dominique

Digging the lipstick you’re wearing in the last pictures! It definitely suits you!

I have been waiting impatiently for these to show up at Ulta. I don’t like buying sight-unseen, particularly since I have to read the ingredients (I can’t do carmine). Waiting … waiting … I’m glad they got a good review. Now I am definitely going to snag at least the more neutral color(s) when they finally show up around here!

    • Isabella Muse

I think they should be popping up soon at Ulta.com not sure about stores though! Probably end of June!

  • Court

I hope I can find these. Nyx is always so picked over at the stores by me. I have enough eyeshadow to last until the end of the world but these are cute!

    • Isabella Muse

I don’t think they are quite in stores yet so you haven’t missed them 🙂

  • Nat

Aww as lovely as these look I thought they were metallic liquid lipsticks! They would be gorgeous if they were. ^_^

  • Hayley

Would you recommend dabbing the applicator straight on the eyelid when applying, or dabbing the applicator on your finger and then applying with your finger?

    • Isabella Muse

I like dabbing straight from the applicator to my eye but wipe the applicator off before replacing in the tube 🙂

  • Tegan

I’m going to have to pick up New Romance and Night Glow. I saw that purplish taupe and nearly squealed with delight. Cream shadows aren’t my friend (oily skin, gah!) but I found that a good primer will definitely decrease (no pun intended) issues with wear. I’ve never tried any NYX cream shadows (the only cream shadow I’ve worn is maybelline color tattoo). I hope it’s worth it!

  • Ayman

Wow Muse….You look so beautiful in Whimsy and Evening Star….Really like the shades. I want em all…….

  • yelena

hey muse any update on the matte lid lingeries? i think u said a while back u were planning a review 🙂

    • Isabella Muse

I am indeed! Will have it love soonish! Not before the 19th I don’t think though! They are fab though! I really like them 😀
