Physicians Formula Super CC Color-Correction + Care All-Over Blur Primer Stick4

Physicians Formula Super CC Color-Correction + Care All-Over Blur Primer Stick ($12.95) is a new 2-in-1 facial primer and color correcting stick that blurs the look of finer lines, dark circles, discolorations, other imperfections.

It acts to prep skin and can be used as a concealer, primer, foundation, and even a touch-up tool!

I happen to be a fan of both Tarte Colored Clay CC Primer and Hard Candy CC Tinted Moisturizer Stick so I was quite happy to see Physicians Formula doing one of these. I typically use these to brighten up my complexion in preperation for foundation.

Physicians Formula Super CC Color-Correction + Care All-Over Blur Primer Stick3

Physicians Formula Super CC Color-Correction + Care All-Over Blur Primer Stick is a chunky swivel up cream primer that promises to even out skin tone while blurring the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and dark circles. It acts as a concealer, primer, foundation, and touch-up tool. It can be used under makeup to prep or alone to brighten and ease tired skin. I tried it out in the Light version but it is also available in a Light/Medium as well.

The stick contains a main base color the dominates the stick and three color correcting shades of yellow, pink, and green. I’ve never understood the need to include all color correcting shades in one single stick. It makes sense in a palette as the colors are separated and you can mix and match the shades that you need. But in a stick it is impossible to separate colors so they all blend into one. This isn’t a bad thing by any means however, there are certain shades I don’t particularly need like green which color corrects redness. The shades all blend together in a light creamy yellow shade that doesn’t quite match my skin tone and makes me look a bit pasty.

The formula is creamy and has a thinner emollient texture that blends easily enough and doesn’t cling to drier areas. I wouldn’t say it really blurs the appearance of major issues for me such as dark circles or my duller, tired skin. I wouldn’t wear it alone since the shade is a bit pasty and unnatural on my skin tone. Under foundation it does offer some brightening abilities so skin appears smooth and even. It does contain an SPF 30 for those interested in the sun protection benefits.

Physicians Formula Super CC Color-Correction + Care All-Over Blur Primer Stick does provide some brightening benefits under foundation but many will find the shade selection a bit too limited for quick swipe and go action. It’s an interesting product but I wouldn’t say it offers many color correcting benefits nor does it conceal most common imperfections that it promises to. It’s a little expensive for what it does do unfortunately!

Physicians Formula Super CC Color-Correction + Care All-Over Blur Primer Stick is available now at drugstores or Ulta.com.

I like the Tart (e) one (is that still available). I think this one will be a skip.

Not so sure about this one based on the review, but glad to read that there is an option in both Hard Candy and Stila.

I was having trouble finding the Tarte stick in-store (both Sephora and Ulta)
so I went online and hoarded three (that were on sale…an ominous sign!). The Tarte formula and color is perfect for me and I hope that they are not phasing it out.

I think they are 🙁 I hauled two recently myself because I was scared they were going to ditch it!

Ugh! I HATE trying to find a dupe when the color and formula are perfecto and the product was so good!

But that’s why I follow you so loyally!

I like that it has the SPF and like something like this for my purse, with touchups, but PF’s palest shades are a touch too dark for me. Can you recommend some kind of CC stick with SPF?

Somehow I think the product is trying to be too many things: a primer, a concealer, a foundation etc. But I love that it has SPF in it. A shame it has limited skin tone range.

  • Melissa

What are a couple of primers that you would recommend? It doesn’t have to have spf in it since my fondation does. My skin is combo and does have some redness.
    Thanks

The swatch on your hand is good for up close detail, but I would have liked to have seen a photo of it on your face as well so we could tell it’s abilities, since it is a face product.
