Smashbox Matte Exposure Palette

The Smashbox Matte Exposure Palette, not to be confused with the Smashbox Photo Matte Exposure Palette, has arrived for Fall 2016. The original palette launched for Spring 2016 in a selection of nudes where as this new one seems to have some cooler as well as warmer shades.

Smashbox packs up 12 eyeshadow shades as well as two base shades, all with a matte finish, as well as a double-ended eyeshadow and liner brush, and a how to get the look guide with this palette for $49. If you’re a fond fan of cooler purples and pinks (as well as some warm nudes) you’ll quite hyped about this one!

Shades include:

  • Spice (burnt orange)
  • Blackberry (deep burgundy)
  • Desert (medium/neutral brown)
  • Sumatra (deep brown)
  • Tonal (peach nude)
  • Suede (soft red brown)
  • Wheat (soft warm brown)
  • Vanilla (soft light beige)
  • Buff (pink nude)
  • Grounded (medium cool brown)
  • Drizzle (muted purple)
  • Black Plum (deep purple)
  • Truffle (light grey)
  • Blackout (black)

Never in my life have I said, “I need another matte eyeshadow palette!” but lately, I find those words popping out of my mouth more than not.

The Smashbox Matte Exposure Palette is available now at Sephora.com.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Thank you, Muse! As I’ve grown older (I’m in my mid 50’s now) I find that matte shadows are so much more flattering. I do love sparkle, shimmer, and other finishes but now I have to limit those or apply less and very carefully. This palette is exactly what I need! I just purchased the The Balm Meet Matt(e) Trimony and I’m so happy with it 🙂

I’m getting there myself now! I totally can relate. Love the sparkle but sometimes a simple matte seems better for my drier eyes 😀 you’re most welcome <3!

I have the Smashbox Photo Matte Exposure Palatte that came out before this. It’s very nice, good quality, but doesn’t have much variety. This one looks much more versatile. Plus, I’m another one who is loving the mattes at the moment!!

    • Isabella Muse

me too! I can’t believe I’m saying it, more mattes!

  • Lauren

OOOOH these are my kind of shades exactly but I am not big on the palettes.

Do I need to tell you that I will be ordering this “tout suite”? Regardless of age, I love me some (more) mattes, particularly cool one, which are harder to come by. Merci, ma souer! (In case you didn’t get it, today is Bastille Day).

Joyeux noel! ;-D Etude House is having a sale because of it, I can’t tell you how terribly happy that makes me lol! I wish more beauty brands would have a sale on Bastille Day! And what better day to celebrate more mattes French women embrace the simplicity don’t they? très chic!

lol Kim! Probably not, I might skip! I don’t really do purple much so it might be a waste to buy!

For matte lovers having a mixture of warm and cool toned shades would be a winner. I just hope the quality is consistent across the board.
