Tarte Tartetist Naughty Nudes Creamy Matte Lip Paint Review & Swatches
The 90’s called and so did Eddie Vedder apparently they want their lipstick shades back! The Tarte Tartetist Naughty Nudes Creamy Matte Lip Paint is a new selection of Tarte Tartetist Creamy Matte Lip Paint available in a selection of nude browns that my teenage self would have happily worn to my first Pearl Jam concert.
I was 16 when I first saw Eddie Vedder perform and have since seen him many times after but the time that sticks in my mind the most was that first Pearl Jam concert. I actually didn’t sport a brown lipstick shade at that concert because we didn’t have an incredible line up to choose from like these new shades from Tarte. Hell, Tarte doesn’t even remember the 90’s all that well as they are just baby having launched in 1999! So, they really did miss the informative years of the 90’s but it’s ok, they’ve gifted us with five shades of well researched brown liquid lipsticks that should bring the era back for you.
But the one thing I ask is, am I that old that grunge is considered vintage now!?
Tarte Tartetist Naughty Nudes Creamy Matte Lip Paint are $20 each and include the following five shades:
- Choker (warm brown)
- Rave (greige)
- Grunge (dark brown)
- Crop Top (mauve brown)
- Brownie (brown)
Tarte Tarteist Lip Paint originally launched in 14 shades with the Tarte Spring 2016 Collection. Since that time Tarte has also done a line of Tarte Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint as well as these new Naughty Nudes Lip Paints.
The original launch gained mixed reviews but I actually loved them. These aren’t a traditional all day liquid lipstick and I’m fine with this as I don’t need nor want my lipstick to wear for 24 hours. They are easy to wear, lightweight, and easy to remove plus they don’t dry my lips out which is a plus.
Needless to say Tarte packs them with intense pigment and a single swipe yields opaque color with a wear of around five to six hours on my lips. I find they apply easily with a velvety cream texture that hugs lips in comfortable color without adhering to drier skin. I find the consistency super creamy and slightly whipped in texture. They set to a smooth, matte finish without falling into my natural lip lines. I had no issues with migration of feathering nor did they dry out or become flaky through the wear plus they wipe away easily which as I mentioned above is fine by me. They do have some transfer issues if you’re drinking from a cup or sipping through a straw but I don’t really mind that in the least. As with all Tarte lip products they have a pleasant mint flavor and fragrance.
The colors are pretty bold and might be difficult to pull off. I thought they might look best on a darker skin tone than my own but I still had a freaking hell of a fun time trying them all on. But I question whether I’d be brave enough to wear them out and about! Some people can rock brown, greige, and tan lips like nobody’s business and although only available in five shades these are likely some of the most unique selection you’ll come across especially for Fall looks.
As we near Fall, I think we’ll see plenty more brown based lipsticks but Tarte gets an early start on the season with this selection of pigmented, comfortable to wear and easy to apply Naughty Nudes Creamy Matte Lip Paints. They are well worth exploring for those who like daring lip colors.
Don’t forget Tarte has 30% off this week during their Friends and Family Event using code FNF!
