Dr. Lip Bang's Lip Freak Buzzing Lip Balm

Haven’t tried it myself but Dr. Lip Bang’s Lip Freak Buzzing Lip Balm caught my eye while browsing today’s Ulta sale. You know when you’re looking for that something, something cheap to add to your cart just because. That’s me with this.

Dr. Lip Bang’s Lip Freak Buzzing Lip Balm has one of the intriguing descriptions I’ve ever read on a lip balm before! Apparently, after application your lips with begin to buzz and vibrate. Yeah, I raised my eye a little bit there. A vibrating buzz? Sounds like a nightmare for sensitive folks but sounds awesome to me. They even suggest kissing someone after application as the experience will be transferred to the other person lips! Hmmm! Remember Pop Rocks Candy? As a child that stuff was like crack! It literally made your mouth into a sugary, crackly explosion. Mix it with a little soda and it was like 4th of July!

For some reason, the description of this balm reminded me of that candy. It’s available in a bubble gum, berry, and mint flavor selection.

Has anyone tried this “buzzing” lip balm yet? Because I know I’m terribly curious about the formula!

Do share if you have experienced the “buzzing vibrations” it promises!

P.S. Happy Thursday! The weather is cooling off and the weekend is looming straight ahead. My week has been very, very, very busy! Work has been nuts! How’s yours going?

Muse, it totally buzzes! It’s hard to describe, kinda like that fuzzy feeling when your foot falls asleep. It takes a few minutes to get the full effect. It was pretty unpleasant. My lips were sore and red after. It took about fifteen minutes for the buzzing sensation to go away after I wiped it off. The balm isn’t even hydrating.

    • Carrie

I agree with this. I usually love the tingling sensation like say, Buxom gloss, but this was too much. *love* the packaging tho.

  • Shani

I own several tubes and yup it buzzes. Roommate calls it the “vibrator lip balm”
    haha

  • Terri

I’ve had mine for about a year and a half. I put it away because the buzz was really strong and annoying. Now, I just put it on because of your mention and it’s hardly a tingle!

  • Jenny

I’m a weirdo and I love this stuff! Def feels like your lips are vibrating! Lol I personally found the formula moisturizing and gentle. If you get redness and/or irritation, you def have a sensitively to one or more ingredients.
This is a novelty item, but like I said, I thought it was quite moisturizing. I got mine at TJ Maxx for about $2. 🙂

Bought this at TJ Maxx, I was in another town for the weekend, and left my chapstick at the hotel, I got the cinnamon, it burned like hell, awful product, returned it immediately.

  • adrienne

I bought it on a whim at Ulta a few months ago. And it definitely buzzes. It’s such a strange sensation. I hated it. It burns too. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

  • Stephanie

The buzz is pretty intense on the first use, but after a while you get used to it and its an overall cool tingly sensation! I bought the scent Coco-Loco Mint, and Im not totally in love with it. I was expecting more of a coco scent, but I am definitely looking forward to trying more of these balms out! The scent Butter Rum Rage has my name all over it! Overall these balms are definitely worth trying! But warning, do not apply too much or your lips may feel numb! One swipe is all you really need!

    • Isabella Muse

I’m still a little hesitant! It sounds like something I like but everyone is squeaking me out with the buzzing lasting for an hour haha!

    • Isabella Muse

whoa! I feel like that when applying bare minerals foundation haha! So I don’t think I’d like that on my lips!

  • dia

I found this at TJMaxx a few months ago. Maybe it’s my sensitivity, but it burned! Dreadful. I tried to return it but the line was so long i just went home 😛

I tried Berry Sinister and wasn’t a fan. It smelled more like a clovey cinnamon than berry and reminded me of a really cheap Halloween candle. I didn’t find it moisturizing and the buzzing became annoying after a few minutes. It’s definitely interesting and will probably be one of those products you either love or hate.

I saw this too at Ulta and was all over it because of the awesome packaging ( who doesn’t love a steampunk skeleton with a mustache?) but once I read the description I was like nope. I hate plumping lipglosses and these seems like it would be like a plumping gloss on steroids. Too bad because if they made a straight up lip balm it would be mine.

People need to chill out. Yes, the first times you use it, it kind of feels like it’s going to start burning at any moment (this takes about 2 minutes). I didn’t like how long it was lasting, so I wiped it with a tissue and it subsided. The 2nd time, I just lightly touched it to my lips in a few spots and then rubbed it in with my fingertip. Much nicer feeling…lighttingle. It’s fun and definitely a conversation starter. Give it a try!

I tried this in Bubblegum! It’s definitely electric feeling. I found it to be an interesting experience, also leaning toward unpleasant due to the length of the “buzzing.” It really reminded me of Lip Venom but it didn’t sting or plump my lips. It’s just kind of…there…for a long time. It did flush my lips red. My boyfriend liked it more than me so I gave it to him. Maybe it’d be a good pick-me-up for midday slumps!

    • Isabella Muse

Hm all these interesting reports on it have me curious but also scared!

    • Angel

I second the comparison to Lip Venom, only more intense for longer. Imagine industrial strength Lip Venom, and this would be it. I absolutely love it!

  • MzVicky

Yes, it buzzes and tingles. I love the feeling and I do think it plumps the bottom lip temporarily. I will keep using.

  • Tina

I DO NOT recommend it at all!!!
I quickly picked this up at ULTA when I had a 3.50 off coupon and my purchase didn’t come up to 10.00.
I didn’t read the description and when I got home I applied it and my lips were tingling with pins and needles like a MoFo for a freakin’ 3 to 5 hours!!!! It was so unpleasant.
I love, love peppermint tingles and love the Buxom lipglosses because of the tingle but this is a whole nother level!!!
I returned the item the next day.
If you like the feeling of pins and needles poking into your lips for a good few hours this is for you, but if not, steer clear.

  • Sara

Sounds terrible! I hate the tingly plumping things, so this sounds like a No Way Jose!

  • Amy Amethyst

I bought the bubblegum flavor recently and I loooove it! I’ve always liked the lip plumper tingles and this is a stronger version of that feeling. I’m sensitive but didn’t have any burning or irritation. The formula was really nice too. It feels silky and moisturizing on my lips. It’s a really interesting sensation and lasts for about an hour for me.

  • Kitty Kat Does Makeup

YES I have this. I bought it last year at a local grocery store. This stuff is crazy. It is very intense. I kind of have a hard time with it. The tingling is too much for me and it makes it miserable to use. Some people might like it though.

    xoxo Kitty Kat

  • Stacy

I must be WEIRD, but I love it! It has some major buzzing power and then you lips almost feel numb. I purchased the Cinnamon and the Bubble Gum. Love them both!!
    P.S. I think I just like a little pain….HA!

  • Penelope

This definitely does not burn, and if it does for you…I’d take another look at the ingredients to be sure you aren’t allergic to any of the essential oils in it. It’s a vibrating feeling for my lips and if you get bothered by it, you can just take it off. No big deal. I like the feeling a lot though. I actually kissed my boyfriend for the first time while wearing it so I think it kind of reminds me of that moment now. He actually has a tube of his own too. Ha.

  • Kir

I have the bubblegum and I weirdly like it. The smell is amazing, I love anything bubblegum. The tingly is odd, definitely freaky the first time but you get used to it. I react horribly to lip plumpers but didn’t to this. It does last a while but if it gets too much for you I did notice if you hold yourlips shut tight it cuts the feeling in half.

  • Heather

My son discovered this in college and had me try some of his. I’ve never tried lip plumpers, and I consider myself wimpy when it comes to pain.

I put it on (Berry Sinister) and liked the taste. I noticed the tingling on my tongue first, but it took a while for it to build to a full roiling boil.

I tried to explain the sensation, and the first thing I could come up with was the feeling when an appendage is coming back from falling asleep. I’ve since seen descriptions comparing it to pop rocks, ants swarming your lips, and what you’d imagine it should feel like when you put your hands on one of those electric glass globes.

I really like how stimulating it is and have given it as gifts to friends I thought would get a kick out of it.

I purchased mine at Ulta (listed at $4.95).

I needed chapstick, bought this I love it cannot wait to kiss someone. Why does it do what it does?

  • Erika

I bought it thinking it was normal chapstick because I love bubblegum flavored stuff. Totally my fault for not reading the package. When I put it on the night after I was horribly confused for like thirty minutes. Good thing i chanced to look at the product by the sink because I would have never suspected chapstick. It totally works though, it helps to know what’s going on though.

  • Jackie

I have the coco-mint and it DOES make my lips feel like they are vibrating! The weirdest sensation ever!!!
