Tarte Styled by Hrush Eye & Cheek Palette Might Just Be Backup Material
As you know the Tarte Styled by Hrush Eye & Cheek Palette ($30) is a limited edition eyeshadow and blush palette that was created in collaboration with Hrush Achemyan. The Style by Hrush Palette got an early launch last weekend at Ulta.com as a one day only Platinum Member Perk and launched officially at tartecosmetics.com after that.
I’m here to tell you that Tarte Styled by Hrush Eye & Cheek Palette might just be backup material.
I had some reservations about the Tarte Styled by Hrush Eye & Cheek Palette because I own a lot of Tarte Palettes and this was filled with a good deal of nude, natural eyeshadow shades that seemed like I could potentially duplicate from some of my past palettes. But I’ll freely admit even when I have dupes I still buy a palettes. I like having a palette with coordinating shades that work together in one place. Am I weird? Possibly! But there’s something rather nice about pulling a palette out and having shades that match well versus looking through my stash for several single eyeshadows to use in one look! Hrush’s palette features six coordinating shades that work well together even though I had some doubt they would at first but more on that in a bit.
Before we move forward I needed to address one common question I get, Where is the palette made? Good news, in the USA 🙂
Hrush’s palette comes in a gold rechtangle compact with a generously sized mirror inside. This palette looks a lot like past palettes from Tarte such as Poppy Picnic Eye & Cheek Palette from Summer 2015 and the Tarte Tarteist Blush Palette that launched this Summer. It’s a packaging they have used before which I favor because it stores easily and it is small enough to travel safely with. The palette has a faux black croc face plate with “Styled by Hrush” on its cover. Tarte and Hrush packed this up with a get the look card that features four different looks you can create using the palette.
Shades include:
- Bliss (white gold)
- Smitten (pink champagne)
- Royal (shimmering berry)
- Pinch (warm golden peach)
- Kitty (matte brown)
- Vamp (taupe)
- Cheeky (matte coral blush)
I’m not going to say there aren’t dupes here as some shades do look like shades Tarte has created in the past. Bliss and Smitten stand out the most as shades I’ve seen or already have in some variation from Tarte. But the exciting things is the formula! So, even if I have these shades in say a Holiday Palette, I don’t mind the repeat because this formula is considerably better than what I’ve seen from past palettes. All six shades have a soft, buttery texture. The satins have a creamy, soft, velvety consistency and that mattes are soft and silky. This is the matte formula from Tarte that made me fall in love with mattes and made me willing to use them. I’m in love with all three mattes particularly Pinch because I’m always looking for peachy dune shades which is a shade that’s very flattering on my eyes. Royal, happens to be the shade that sold me on this palette! It’s a very pretty purple-y berry which I’m wearing in my photo below on my lash line paired up with Pinch. I know odd combination right? But it actually works beautifully well!
The blush included with the palette is also lovely. It’s a light coral with an orange undertone which at first I was a little worried about as orange doesn’t look well on me. But it actually compliments the eyeshadow shades beautifully. The formula is very soft and silky with a good eight hour wear time. It isn’t as dense as some of the Amazonian Clay Blushes that have been launching lately. It was very easy to blend and the soft, matte finish was seamless. I expected it to have a flat finish due to the matte nature of the formula but it actually lit up my entire face! Not with shimmer mind but the shade just added a certain glow to my entire face. One of the best things about this shade is I can honestly say I don’t have a single Tarte blush like it!
Well, that was a great experience! There are a lot of shades in this palette I’d want to have backups of like Cheeky Blush, Pinch, Kitty, and Royal Eyeshadow!
The Tarte Styled by Hrush Eye & Cheek Palette is one of the nicest palettes I’ve tried from the brand in a while. This has an excellent selection of Fall friendly shades and I can see it as a palette that will be taken out and used often in daily looks. I’m really glad I purchased it and have even played with the idea of hauling a second one (which I might still do!).
All in all, a great pick from Tarte and Hrush!
Well done!
