What’s One of Your Favorite Beauty Blast from the Past Products?

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

I can’t recall what post it was but someone brought up Teen Spirit Shampoo and Conditioner. I have to say that was one of my favorite beauty blast from the past products. I didn’t even realize I even missed or didn’t even remember it until I started chatting it with many of you. I can’t begin to tell you what memories that shampoo brings back.

My list of favorite beauty blast from the past products is massive. There’s Caboodles, Maybelline Kissing Koolers, the original Smacker Lip Balms, oh and not beauty related but everything Lisa Frank!

Beauty confession, I recently purchased Heaven Scent and Baby Soft on Fragrance.net and they were AWFUL! I hadn’t realized both scents were reformulated until I purchased them. I had a bad case of nostalgia one night and I randomly ordered both while stocking up on Bond No 9 New Haarlem. I got the boxed, ripped it open with my teeth, misted myself madly with Heaven Scent and promptly headed to the shower because it was a combination of musk gone bad and wet dog. Needless to say it ended up in the garbage. I was a little more caution with Baby Soft and I’m sure glad I was because Baby Soft smells nothing like I remember.

It was a sad trip down memory lane for me.

I’m raking my brain at the moment trying to remember other vintage beauty picks but I’m going to go ahead and rely on you to bring me down memory lane with some of your favorites.

Do share one or several of your favorite beauty blast from the past products!

It can anything! Accessories, skincare, makeup, skincare, hair care…..share ’em all!

I can’t wait to hear all about them!

P.S. If you need to relive your Caboodles youth you can grab some retro Caboodle cases at Ulta.com.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I still use a large Caboodle a friend gave me for my bat mitzvah to store all of my backup makeup. I’m 36 🙂

    • Isabella Muse

HA I love it Leah! I still have my purple one. No makeup inside but it does contain stuff from high school like photos and such!

  • kimkats

Lessee… the lip balms in the slide open tins.. Village something? They made a hyper glossy/sticky roller ball lip gloss in (disgusting) flavors too – Strawberry was my favorite!

then there was Clarion makeup – the one with the little “computer” that’s supposed to match your to your colors? And the Maybelline cake mascara – my mom used it so I started (secretly) buying it at Ben Franklin’s for like 29 cents! 😀
    Ahhhhhh… getting all nostalgic now….. 🙂

Baby Soft, yes. I still have bottles. I loved my Caboodles case in purple with silver glitter all over it. I only remember Teen Spirit deodorant, not hair care.

Also, Lisa Frank! I almost ordered some leggings that had her prints all over them (I don’t remember the name of the site though).

    • Allie

Rage On is the site and they have sweaters too. My hubby would freak!

  • Tammy

Dial-A-Lash mascara, Babe anti-perspirant. I truly miss Avon’s Pearl’s & Lace Perfume; I wish they would bring it back! I also loved L’jardin and Jordache perfumes. I bought Jontue in a drugstore out of nostalgia a year or two ago and it still smells the same!

    • Isabella Muse

I have to admit I googled Babe anti-perspirant because I can’t recall that one! Loved the vintage commercial haha!

  • Jessica

I loved me some Malibu Musk and Tribe perfumes..while rocking my favorite dark brown lipstick, coffee bean by Revlon in the black and gold tube.

  • Daisy

Maybelline had this collection, called “shine-free”. They still have the powder, but nothing else. Everything was packaged in mini baby pink and lavender containers. They had colored mascaras in blue, green, etc. and a ton of lipsticks in various pink shades. It was the prettiest packaging. I wish, wish, wish Maybelline would do a throwback collection and relaunch this.

I also miss Electric Youth perfume by Debbie Gibson. They also had lip glosses with a little plastic lightning rod in them, too.

And while I’m at it, I miss the original Herbal Essence shampoo with the hippie chic on the label.

Kissing Koolers, Dial-a-Lash, Street Wear (nail polish & cosmetics), Revlon Skinlights (the *original* iteration), Love’s Fresh Lemon, L’oreal Rouge Pulp liquid lipsticks, Naturistics lip balms, Fetish cosmetics….the list can go on…(I remember my cousin had a Caboodle. She carried Joop perfume in it.)

  • Tabitha

Alyssa Ashley musk, Revlon Toasted Almond lipstick- which you can probably still buy- Alberta VO5 hot oil treatment & Extra Super Hold AquaNet in the lavender can to cancel out the benefits of the VO5 & give you 4-5 inch bangs & unmovable hair & tuck & roll jeans. British Knights sneakers & umbro soccer shorts especially if you didn’t play soccer. Stir up leggings sets with the matching long button down with matching tie. Dear lord. Ha! This post made me feel pretty good about being not far from 40 lolol.

  • Tabitha

Oh and does anyone remember the sneakers that had a zipper above the sole that went all the way around the shoe so you could change the tops of your sneakers to whatever style you wanted? I wanted them SOOOOO bad!!!!

  • Daisy

I loved my pink British Knights double diamond tennis shoes. Oh, I forgot about Fetish cosmetics, loved that brand, too! Can’t forget about LA Gear clothing and Sassy magazine.

  • Diane

I’ll bet no one remembers Angel Face liquid foundation. I used to wear it in high school back in the late 60’s. It was the only foundation that didn’t make my skin look cakey. Also Avon had a foundation for a short time called In The Light. Their original Glimmer Sticks for eyes were more irredescent

  • Rachel R.

I miss the Village Lip Lickers and Maybelline Kissing Potions from when I was a kid. I used to collect the Lip Lickers.

  • Ashley

My cousin wore the h outta some exclamation perfume. I too loved Loves Baby Soft, and my mom one day started insisting that I wear these roll on deodorants from Avon (I was an athletic child and preteen). I remember when everyone, and I mean everyone, OD’ed on CK 1. L’oreal Studio line hair spritz in the white bottle held up that high pouf bang that was tossed to one side (and it had to be stiff and crunchy) and this complemented the curly perm that some girls tried to fake (myself being one) with overnight braids. Oh, and the “Big Bang thing” came with some guidelines – too high, and you were straight up weird, too low, and you were a shy nerd. Cover girl Cheekers blush had this perfume-y smell that I can still remember to this day. And Bonne bell had some cute stuff. I’ve grown out of Noxema, but it kept my skin clear back then. I was one of few people to rock Elizabeth Arden’s Sunflower fragrance and something by Ralph Lauren (early True Romance?). I couldn’t wear hoop earrings because I can’t wear costume jewelry and my parents couldn’t afford expensive jewelry at the time, but I remember dangle earrings making you exceptionally cool.

  • Aimee

Those Naturisics pot lip balms!! So many flavors! I seriously miss those soooooo much I am getting wistful like “If only I could use the raspberry one more time.”

  • stephanie

yes! caboodles and baby soft and kissing potion! but my favorites were Debbie Gibson’s Electric Youth perfume and this amazing cooling body spray from the late 80s/early 90s that I can’t remember!

  • Gillie

I used to love the fragrance bar at The Body Shop. Even more, though, I loved Garden Botanika. They had a fragrance bar, but their makeup was amazing.

Do you remember Conair Benders? I had the ones that came in a little bag that plugged in to warm them up. I loved those stupid things! 😀

  • kellly

    Mine goes waaaaaaaay back.
Coty made a pressed powder that was sort of a concealer/foundation/powder all in one. I can’t remember what it was called. It even had some kind of blurring agent in it so fine lines under my eyes were gone. It never creased or caked. It was PER.FECTION. Of course they don’t make it any more.

  • Carolyn (Deaux)

TROLL DOLLS!! (From the new MAC Troll collection). Me and my friends loved those dolls. 🙂 Although, I must say I can’t remember any of us wanting to put on makeup to look like one??? LOL.

  • Iris

So many for me. Baywatch perfume, those Lip Stix from Bonne Bell, M Cosmetics., Malibu Musk… I never did get the first despite it being on the to buy list.

  • Daisy

Old navy perfume and YM magazine to get the lowdown on looks and products

  • Tammy

Covergirl foundation. Actually, I think the one we all used back then might still be around. It was so orange! And the pressed powder was, too. I still miss the ’80s, though…

  • Joanna

I used to love Verve perfume (early to mid 80s). They had different scents and corresponding pastel packaging.

In the mid 80s, I loved Freeman Papaya hair spray – I smelled amazing!

  • Onyx

Max Factor pancake and pan stick makeup. I loved the matte coverage that you got with pancake and it was so buildable. Bit of a learning curve to apply it but once it was on it would stay put.
I couldn’t wear that stuff now anyway, my skin is too dry. But I still miss it.

  • Lesley A.

Love’s Fresh Lemon, which apparently still exists but I don’t think I would like it now. I had a few different products in that scent — as the name says, it smelled exactly like lemons. Not sure why that was appealing at the time (1970s?)

  • Annie

Heaven Scent perfume!!! I also was a fan of the Dial-A-Lash mascara!! And what about Sun In for your hair…..totally cool!! My husband’s friend has a business that deals with vintage media and he put together some DVDs for me, filled with hours of retro beauty commercials and ads….I love watching it over and over!!

    • Isabella Muse

girl, Sun In was the $h1t! PS it’s still available and beauty confession, I still use it lol!

  • Roberta

I use to use and loved the Yardley lip gloss in a pot! (I’m old!) And my favorite fragrance which I would buy today if it were available is Love’s Fresh Lemon.
