Are You Buying Now to Earn Points or Waiting on Sephora’s 20% Off Sale?

Phew! This week the Holiday 2016 Makeup Collections are pouring in! Too Faced, Tarte, and many others are all dropping at the same time! How can a makeup addict resist? Not to mention many items are selling out pretty fast.

Are you buying right now during the Sephora Customer Appreciation Event when you can earn up to double, triple, or even quadruple the points on your purchase and work towards one of the great Sephora Rewards Bazaar sets?! Or are you waiting for the big Sephora 20% Off sale to happen?

I’m actually sort of in the middle of the road myself. A lot of items I need to buy for the blog. Yeah, I know, sounds like an excuse doesn’t it? I promise it isn’t 🙂 I want to get reviews up and live to help people to decide whether they actually need a product or not! So, right now I feel pressed to purchase for the blog and also I feel pressed on certain items that I want and feel like they will sell out before the big Sephora sale!

I do have a big old Sephora wish list for when 20% does land!

So, I’m in the middle of waiting and buying!

    I bought the Drunk Elephant set (and got 4X points plus the VIB/Rouge Sample Bag) because I really needed the glycolic serum anyway, and couldn’t wait any longer. I’m trying hard to wait for the 20% off sale for everything else and my list is def. growing! I can probably make it as long as there are no amazing surprises/value sets/rewards between now and then!

    I’m purchasing the things I think are likely to sell out before the 20% sale (for example, the Tarte blush palette) and holding off on the things I think will still be around. I’d rather have 20% off $100 than spend $100 and get 300 rewards points!

    Currently I’m grabbing items I knew were coming out that I’ve seen swatching or sneak peaks of now, and if their are items I’m not sure about I’ll wait to see if they are in stock for the sale. I’ve gone as far to order from Tarte.com instead of waiting for Sephora. I’ve got a wish list for the sale too, mainly skin care items and a fragrance or two in rollerballs.

    None of the holiday sets released have really caught my eye yet. I have purchased base products, concealer, powder, foundation (things I need) but I defly have a list for the 20%. I think this year I am going for skincare (luna oil and good genes duo) and maybe a fragrance that way I am really putting the discount to good use. I am (im)patiently waiting for UD Junkie Lip Palette though!! Otherwise all the holiday released aren’t really a must-have for me.

      Oh! Your list is a lot like mine! A I have a bunch of Sunday Riley on my list as well as a ton of fragrances 🙂

      I heard the Power Couple duo may be discontinued (from a Sunday Riley rep in store, but I also take their advice with a grain of salt, since their goal is to get you to buy) and will be replaced with a set with more items, each with smaller amounts of each. :/

    I tend to buy little items with extra points and stock up on higher price items for the 20% same for ulta when the good coupons come out. I keep separate shopping lists for that reason

    I am thinking about buying the Tarte blush palette. Already got the Hourglass $80 palette and some KVD lipsticks. I was hoping those points were going to increase my status since I need a couple to get VIB Rouge next year!!!!

    I ended up just buying one item (the Laura Mercier Fall In Love Face Illuminator palette) . Everything else on my love list can wait until the big sale. 😉

    I’m waiting for the sale for a lot of skin care items and a few holiday sets that I don’t think will sell out (the TF set with the 3 little palettes is really catching my eye this year) – I want to restock my Luna Oil and Good Genes, and also just fell IN LOVE with the Martian toner from Sunday Riley. Also want to try out some of the new IT line at Sephora with the discount. I did however splurge yesterday and buy the Tarte blush palette (because I REALLY need another friggin’ Tarte blush palette in my life -_-) and the new pinky Becca highlighter (because like the blush, I need more of those little punks in my life too) because I don’t think either of those are sticking around long. And we know I’m impulsive 😉

    I am waiting for the 20% off sale. Money talks and points walks(sorry that was corny). I rather save money than earn points, because I usually don’t like what Sephora offers for the amount of points you have to use. Is a little gift set with a few products really worth what would be $500 spent to earn the points for it?

    I am waiting for the 20% off to save money and also because many people that have bought items during the current sale will have posted reviews and I can make an informed decision.

    I am torn too on what to buy and what to wait on. I just got the hourglass edit and the tarte blush wheel because I felt like they might be gone, (I am not a fan of the hourglass edit palette as it does not really show up on my skin .. I am tan with olive undertone) only the pinkest blush shows up a little so I am going to return that. I really want to wait for the sale to pick up KVDs new brushes, concealer and powder. LOL. I am hoping the LM highlight palette, the stila highlight palette and the bobbi brown brick palette will still be available then . They should start the sale when these items come out,. Its such a marketing strategy of Sephora that they do this to us.

      I am too! It becomes more and more unpredictable what will and won’t sell out! I felt like the blush wheel will sell out fast too which is why I grabbed it ;-D

    Every year, once holiday stuff starts rolling out, I start a spread sheet to keep track of items I’m interested in (it’s the math/econ major in me :P). I get real hardcore and do some cost benefit analysis after going through my current stash and figuring out what sales/events will be happening. Without being able to see the numbers, my self control goes straight out the window! I usually wait until the 20% sale to grab the items I want, but there is one exception. The large size Sephora Favorites Give Me More Lip set. Lippies are my weakness, and I’ve never been disappointed with this set. It’s always been an amazing value.

    The extra points are not enticing me since I’ve already renewed by Rouge status but it’s hard to wait for fear that some items will sell out. I’ve been trying to cut back on spending though so I’ll try to be patient and if it sells I’ll say, “Oh well! Wasn’t meant to be.”

    Like most others, I bought a few necessities and things I thought would sell out during this event (the Give Me Some Lip set which had been OOS stock for a week+ but just came back in stock), but am saving my splurges for the 20% promo. I’ve been on a low buy for the last few months and am really starting to get itchy!!

    Also hear you, and others on getting some Sunday Riley goodies – the Martian Toner is SO GOOD and I also really want to try to ceramic cleanser. Hoping for a holiday set of some sort!

    I am hoping the NARS holiday sets will be released by the 20% off sale. I did order the Becca Rose Quartz Skin Perfector because I was afraid it would sell out and I am always on the hunt for the perfect pink toned highlighter.

    I’m doing a little of both:) Some things I really want right now and it’s nice to get the extra points. But there are items I will stock up on when that 20% sale rolls around.

    I placed a little ‘treat yo self’ order yesterday including the May Coop Raw Sauce, Bite Beauty Lip Pencil Duo, Tarte Blush Palette Color Wheel, and also snagged the Buxom Lip Trio VIB perk. I was planning on waiting till the sale, but since the Blush Wheel sold out fast last year, I went for it since it’s a great deal. I also only had to spend $60 for my points to get me past 1000, and I am feeling a little crazy over those Bazzar Rewards.

    I already have some things in mind for my VIB Sale wishlist. Probably the Too Faced Grand Hotel, a couple Sephora Favorites sets, and I always grab a Josie Maran gift set, too.
