L’Oreal Dare to Go Wild for Holiday 2016 Featuring the La Nude Palette

The L’Oreal Dare to Go Wild for Holiday 2016 Collection is launching now at drugstores. Don’t get as confused as I did when I saw this display as it features the La Nude Palette 1 and 2 which are now called the La Palette Nude and La Palette Nude Intense. These both come with a gold leopard slip cover but neither palette is new even though the collection somewhat implies they are new.

Ugh! I can’t tell you how this drives me nuts. I think this is at least the third time L’Oreal has encased the La Palette Nudes in a slip cover. It’s almost as if they want to trick people into believing the palettes are new. The entire collection is mostly a repromote of items that are already available in the permanent collection such as Voluminous Mascara and Primer, La Palette Lip, and La Palette Nude Eyeshadow Palette.

Hopefully they’ll do another collection with some other more interesting Holiday makeup pics and limited edition shades because the Dare to Go Wild Holiday 2016 Collection is a snore.

What do you think of this new L’Oreal Dare to Go Wild for Holiday 2016 Collection?

I so agree with you, Muse. It absolutely feels like L’Oreal is trying to “trick” consumers into thinking the palettes are new. I took a double-take months ago when they put both palettes into slipcovers and slightly changed the name. The product number on the back is the same but geez, is it really necessary for L’Oreal to play games? Yet another reason I buy almost nothing at the drugstores anymore.

They already did sleeves for the La Nude Palette about three times in the past, why!?? It seems deceitful to me. I know I looked twice and I was like OH NEW PALETTE! only to be disappointed and yes the name change totally throws me. It was 1 and 2 when it first releases now it is nude and nude intense WTH? Confusing much!

I bought both of those palettes shortly after they came out( with coupons and extra bucks) and I loved the pigmentation of the #1 palette. I never even opened the #2. After evaluating all my neutral palettes, I ended up selling them because I never reached for them. I was always going for my Bare Minerals Nudes or my MAC nudes. I hear you though, its irritating when they try to trick consumers into thinking they are a new product.

I use them quite often and really like them! I just don’t understand the need to slip them into new packaging or semi-new packaging and repromote them as being new. People are bound to think they are new shades! Ugh!

saw these last week or so, waiting to be put on shelves and I saw they were re-promos
they were gone at the other Harmon last week,
there’s only 2 in the display so if you want them don’t wait.
but as the Muse says they aren’t new
would be nice to see something new for the holidays

Wow, this is incredibly “meh.” Although I like the eye look on the promo model! The lower lash pointy eyeliner thing is cool.

I don’t think “go wild” means what they think it means. Unless consumers go wild when they realize they’ve bought the same palette twice.

I love the Nude one (got it after your review on it) but hate that it’s just new packaging for the holidays.

I really like it! Try it with clear gloss! It creates some really nice glossy nude looks with a little clear gloss 😀

Yes, this is complete BS. I remember not too long ago, in fact, when L’Oreal, Maybelline and even Revlon would all do great collections for every season. I cannot remember the last time L’Oreal had a great seasonal collection. And Revlon’s this year for fall was a major “phone it in” collection. Maybelline hasn’t done anything seasonal for awhile either. Then I saw your WNW post and flipped! They are consistant with doing a new, LE collection for every season. I’m pretty much done with Revlon and L’Oreal. Maybelline has me still, but barely…
But I agree, they are tricking people into thinking these are new palettes! Sad!

I don’t get what happened to drugstore makeup! Their releases are so slow lately! and the constant rereleases drive me crazy!

  • Kathy

Book publishers do this — they bring out a writer’s backstock with new cover art. Drives me crazy.

    That’s low….
But they don’t do that where I am – Malaysia – probably because we get the other version of the la palette? I relented to my inner wannabe beauty queen and picked up the “beige” (1?) version last month during a major sale (because it was about the equivalent of $10!) cause I figured that it’ll be more or less the same quality as the ones you reviewed (oh… you inspire temptation)…
It’s really great and I appreciate the presence of the black shade but goodness, do I need an eye primer!
