About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Hey Muse! I saw the eye shadow palette on Sephora a few days ago and, as always, I had a knee-jerk reaction “WANT” reaction.

But — and I know most folks will disagree with me — I’m not a fan of MUF. I had many of their palettes, but sold all of them except the newest, all matte one. It’s probably me and my dislike of shimmer and glitter, but I’m not blown away by MUF like most everyone else seems to be. I’d love to hear your opinion…

    • Isabella Muse

I don’t mind the shimmer/glitter but I find their new gel eyeshadows are very dense and difficult to pick up with a brush! Do you notice that or am I crazy?

      • bri

I thought it was just me. I couldn’t get any pigmentation (of course it was my first and only palette by them) so I couldn’t understand all the love they get

        • Isabella Muse

everyone adores them, I sort of get the love on some levels as I have a palette that I like but I prefer the Tarte gel formula that launched with their Rainforest Palette versus the MUFE one!

  • Staci

I like their eyeshadow formula. I bought last year’s pallette, and I never use it. It’s in my sell or swap pile.

I’ve learned to be much more selective with pallets. I don’t use bright colors and I’ve got neutrals covered.

  • Christina D.

I did noticed that. In fact, I tried a few different brushes — and I think I even tried your recommendation of using those cheap foam applicators — but wasn’t impressed. Hence I’ve only kept the all matte palette and may very well pass on this one when it’s available.

Of course that could all change when I get the “in stock” email from Sephora!

    • Isabella Muse

the eyeshadow applicators help a lot for me. I have a love hate relationship with the gel formula, it looks nice on but it proves a pain to apply! Haha I hear ya! thankfully the palette isn’t calling me, the shades aren’t ones I like so I’m good!

      • Jessica

I just use my fingers and the gel formulas are becoming a go to…really depends on my mood. I’m just surprised how uninspired this collection is, or is it just me? The cost of the eyeliners is close to the UD Vault and you get so much more of a similar formula with UD. Am I missing something?

  • Silvia

Ouchy! The eyeliner pencil set is killing me! But can’t afford. So I’ll just keep dreaming. Actually have most shades but oh! they look so pretty!
