SheaMoisture Creme Concealer ($11.99) (0.26 oz) popped up recently at Ulta so, of course, concealer junkie that I am I grabbed a shade! This would be my first venture into the world of Shea Moisture’s makeup range and I was hopeful it would be a good experience considering my success with their hair care.

Here’s my thoughts and review.

Originally, I purchased the shade Porcelain because I know that SheaMoisture’s shade range runs a bit darker. Sadly, it was a poor choice so, I returned in store and had to re-order a second shade, Toast, online because this isn’t available in store, it’s exclusively online at Ulta.com. Toast appeared darker online and even looked it in the tube but it was also a little too light. Word to the wise, the shades appear to run lighter not darker as I suspected.

I love the idea of this concealer but it doesn’t quite work out well with my drier eyes. It’s a creamier yet lightweight consistency with excellent pigmentation. I would say you can get sheer to medium coverage from this little concealer. It apparently brightens, conceals, and eases the appearance of dark circles and imperfections under eyes. Brighten, for sure! Considering the shades run lighter, I believe they are relying on that to create the brightening effect under eyes. The shade Toast gave my eyes a bright, bushy-eyed appearance for sure and I looked wide awake after application but not chalky thankfully nor pasty. The formula is creamy and it feels hydrating when swatched but it sets to a more semi-satiny finish which tends to crease into my finer eyes and makes my eyes look older due to the dryness of the finish. If you have oily skin this might be a great pick but those of us with drier eyes and finer lines you might feel this isn’t a for you no matter how much you moisturize. I’m kind of having this love/hate relationship with it at the moment. I started using it by dabbing some on the end of the concealer brush I got with the Tarte X @NicolConcilio Brush Set and buffed it gently under my eyes. This seems to work best for me as the creasing is minimized however, the dryness still factors in sadly. I just love how bright my eyes look with this on. I look well rested and perky. I just wish it didn’t set so dryly because after a while it begins aging my eyes. The wear time is very good at around eight hours but again, the lack of moisture ends up making my under eye area look very crepey. Sad sigh!

SheaMoisture Creme Concealer will likely work a treat for oily skin but those of us with drier eyes might want to wait for a sale before trying this one out.

SheaMoisture Creme Concealer is available exclusively online at Ulta.com.

Thanks for the review! Can you mix the concealer with an under eye cream to get rid of the dryness?

What concealer do you recommend for drier eyes ? I bought the bye bye undereye by IT cosmetics and it’s great coverage but it’s also a love hate relationship because I get the creases in my fine lines . Do you think the Laura mercier finishing powder is causing that ? Help!

em the great cover up and bare minerals serum concealer are to great hydrating concealers. Are you applying eye cream before? And perhaps an eye serum?

I use an eye cream revitalize by oil of Olay . I’m looking for a concealer that brightens my dark circles to give them a highlighted look without drying them out where I get creases and lines. I love the coverage of the bye bye undereye but by the time I get to work I have lines and creases

You might want to try the two concealers I suggested. They are creamy and hydrating! Not sure why bye bye is creasing so much 🙁 Sadly, it works for some folks and doesn’t work for others. You might want to apply some primer under your eyes to feel finer lines and allow the concealer something to sit on top of it, that might solve your creasing issues!
