Soap & Glory the Ultimatte Collection

I grabbed up the new Soap & Glory the Ultimatte Eyeshadow Palette ($20) recently because Ulta has a BOGO offer on all Soap & Glory Makeup! I realize I didn’t actually LOVE the Soap & Glory The Perfect Ten Eyeshadow Palette but I wasn’t determined to try the all matte Soap & Glory the Ultimatte Eyeshadow Palette.

Soap & Glory the Ultimatte Eyeshadow Palette comes housed in a slim line, sturdy cardboard palette and is identical in size and shape to the Perfect Ten Palette that launched last year. This palette pays home to ten all matte eyeshadow shades as well as a dual-sided eyeshadow brush. I believe I mentioned it in my past review of the Perfect Ten Palette and it deserves mentioning here again, the brush this comes with is useless. They designed the brush with very soft bristles and it seems well made but it is way too small to apply eyeshadows or even blend them!

This palette is actually filled with both cooler and warmer shade selections so, it covers a good deal of ground.

Shades are:

  • Cat Got The….(Light Cream)
  • Take a Sand (Light Dune Beige)
  • Pink-Tuitive (Baby Pink)
  • Rudy Judy (Cream Beige)
  • Okey Cocoa (Light Bark Brown)
  • Conker All (Dark Brown)
  • Pebble Power (Light Taupe)
  • Stone Age (Navy Blue)
  • Mauve Over (Dusky Mauve Pink)
  • Liquorice (Black)

I was actually pretty impressed with this palette. It’s a simple, easy to use palette that creates quick but pretty looks when you’re in a hurry. The shadows are soft, silky, and a bit powdery but never chalky or dry. They blend easily enough on my lids and have fairly good pigmentation. I think the thing I liked most about this palette was the quickie looks I could create using it. There isn’t a lot of know how with this palette. It’s a quick swipe, blend, and go eyeshadow palette but that doesn’t take away from the fact the looks you can create are very pretty and accentuate eyes with nice color.

For me, mattes can sometimes be time consuming and not always easy to apply. The Soap & Glory the Ultimatte Eyeshadow Palette made mattes easy and pretty! If you’re in need of some basic matte shades to create some fast and pretty looks this is most definitely the palette to go with.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. I have to ask, but good Lordy woman, where do you put all these cosmetics and bath/body/face products? I live in a large home with very large rooms and bathrooms and I am running out of space. It have gotten to the point that I have to an buy an embarrassing amount of totes and cosmetic cases. And I’m not A blogger or get PR products. I just don’t know where you can store all this. I give products I don’t like to friends or family, or if possible return. Yes, I’m one of those people. Shameful…I know. I hope you spread the wealth. You are going to be forced out of your house by eyeshadow. Jk. You know what I mean. 😉

    • Isabella Muse

I totally relate! 🙂 I have one room I’m using right now but yes, totally running out of space too! I try to weed through it at few months and donate stuff to my mother’s senior group or to a teen organization! It’s tough though when you’re a makeup addict haha!

      • Sarah

I agree about being a make up addict. That’s super sweet, you give the overflow to other people. I do the same. Just not in the quantity that you do. :-D. Love, is love though. I can tell you, that these seniors and teens think you are Santa clause. That’s awesome.

        • Isabella Muse

haha being addicted to makeup can be a pain sometimes but hey we get joy from it too right? OMG The seniors are overjoyed with it! You’d think they were in their 20s the way they get so excited over lipstick 😉

          • Sarah

Ahh, that is so sweet. I love it. Pay it forward girlie. Really, good karma for you. Remember, we will all be there one day, God willing. Again, so sweet. It sounds corny, but our senior center here needs wheelchairs and walkers, so I decided to pay it forward. It’s not lipstick, but they needed wheels and I am blessed enough to be able to give them that. It’s pennies in the scheme of things and you give someone a great day. Either a lipstick, an eyeshadow or a walker. It’s all the same. Like I said, love is love. 😉

          • Isabella Muse

always 🙂 You reap what you sow right? 🙂 You are so lovely for doing that!!!!!!!!!! That’s really really a beautiful gift!

The love for makeup never goes away. My mother was 87 when she passed (three months before her 88th birthday), and she went with a full face of makeup on (the woman never went out without makeup on). She was getting ready for her weekly hair appointment when she had a massive cerebral hemorrhage.

I have been eyeing this (no pun intended) because I love mattes but held off purchasing because I hated the first palette, the Perfect Ten. Sounds like you enjoyed it, although it’s not Muse Approved. So you think it’s worth a pick up?

    • Isabella Muse

I disliked the first palette as well. I didn’t hate but it didn’t wow me either. I did enjoy this one though! Yes on sale for sure, but no not at full price!

      • Caroline

Funny, I actually liked the first palette and thought it had some nice shades in it! I would be interested to check this one out, but definitely am going to wait for a really good sale. 🙂

  • Christina D.

I may go ahead as long as it’s on sale with my next beauty steal so I don’t have to do the $50 minimum for free shipping.

BTW Ulta added two new Bare Minerals palettes although they’re showing as out of stock. We both love Bare Minerals but I’m starting to get that deja vu feeling. like I’ve seen these palettes before. The all matte one is tempting even though it’s eyeshadows and face powders.

    • Isabella Muse

Let me know what you think if you try! Yes! I have a post set to go live later tonight about them! I also liked the matte red lipstick they have available! I have to see them in person before I decide if they are like anything else I have but yeah, def a little rerun going on maybe!

The cardboard palette packaging is very similar to the Paula’s Choice matte palette that came out a few years ago. The shadows are somewhat similar, except there was no blue in it as Paula Begoun cannot stand blue eyeshadow.

  • Kathy Agel

I’m not a big fan of mattes, so I’ll pass (I’ll save my money for the BE holiday releases, a bunch of DVD sets from last season, and some of Bruce Springsteen’s latest concert downloads. He just released his three 4-hour shows from Giants Stadium — er, MetLife. I’m sorry — I drove past Giants Stadium way too many times over its existence to ever get used to the corporate-payola name of the new one. The Steinbrenners have the right idea — Yankee Stadium is Yankee Stadium — period). The only ones I have that I like are two IT palettes, and the Suede Neutrals 8.0 from BE.
