MAC Nutcracker Sweet Pink Lipstick Kit Review & Swatches

The new, limited edition MAC Nutcracker Sweet Pink Lipstick Kit is a delightful selection of mini MAC Lipsticks that’s perfect for gifting or getting. Correct me if I’m wrong but has MAC every done a mini Holiday Lipstick Set? I can’t recall!

Check out this little set below!

Ahh the standard Holiday Lipgloss Set! Truly something we makeup addicts look forward to during the Holiday seasons because really who doesn’t want a set that has a selection of our favorite lipglosses. But lipstick? A holiday set featuring several shades of lipstick always seems a little rarer! If you’re a lipstick girl or guy you’ll be quite happy to see this cute little MAC Nutcracker Sweet Pink Lipstick Kit that includes four darling MAC Lipstick minis which are 0.06 oz each.

MAC tucks these minis up tight in a little plastic drawer decorated with a Nutcracker Suite pattern. The packaging is simply brilliant in my opinion because you can reuse it. Tarte, I’m talking to you, why make brilliant packaging that can’t be reused? MAC houses the lipsticks in a removable plastic tray which you can pop out. Pop the tray out and you can use the box to make a little travel makeup kit. Tuck some small brushes inside, lipstick, face powder, etc…you have room to tuck quite a few items inside! I love I can reuse the packaging.

The set includes both matte and amplified lipsticks all of which have excellent pigmentation. All four had a creamy, smooth consistency that didn’t cling to my drier lips and wore for a good five hours. MAC’s Amplified and Matte Lipsticks tend to apply a bit dryly on my lips but these all looked incredibly smooth and didn’t tug during application.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I got some stuff from Macy’s because I had a triple Plenti Points offer but I’m still looking for the Red Retro Matte kit. It’s a “retailer exclusive,” but I have yet to find the retailer that it’s exclusive to. Grrrr.

      • Cindy

Nope. It’s not on MAC’s website. I asked them in an online chat about it and the first associate said that it showed that it was in stock but since it wasn’t on the website there must be a “glitch.” Then she transferred me to someone else who told me there was “no such product.” They have no clue what they are doing. I checked all of the usual dept. store MAC sellers & found nothing.

          • Isabella Muse

yup supposed to be mac online or maybe I am missing something? Don’t feel bad because whenever I ask Sephora something via phone they are clueless too. It’s like no one knows their stock. You work there right? You should know these things? I always have a moment when I want to say, “HELLO, anyone home Mcfly? Think Mcfly! think!”

  • Annie

Well poop! I already have Heroine and have barely touched it, so I suppose I should pass this kit. But the cuteness is pulling me……

  • Cindy

Hmmmm. I will keep checking then . . . I mean how do you make a RED holiday set & not have it up for sale???

          • Cindy

A MAC rep left me a phone message saying that the Red Retro Matte kit was only available in MAC stores. I knew this was still wrong info (3x wrong info from MAC, come ON!!). But now the mystery is solved. The Red Retro Matte kit is now on the MAC website but it says “only available at Macy’s.” Nothing on the Macy’s website, but I’m assuming it’s only available at Macy’s stores.

          • Isabella Muse

At least you know where it is now! YES! πŸ˜€ Maybe call your local store see if they have it!

Thank you so much for including the weight of the mini lipsticks and your review. Have been hesitating all day on the lipstick kits which are now available up north ( for $42.00 CAD) on maccosmetics.ca Now planning to get them since it is such a great deal. Thank you again for your review πŸ™‚

This is going to sound so boring of me, but the kit was ruined with the purple shade. why couldn’t it have been a pretty nude shade instead! πŸ™ (but i might suck it up and buy this kit anyway because it’s adorable!)

  • Teasha

I got the nude mini lipstick kit, red mini lipstick kit, pink gloss set, red gloss set, plum eye kit, peach cheek duo, & bronze pigment set. I’m obsessed with the nutcracker, so I went overboard! I didn’t even realize the drawer/packaging was plastic until I got them, such cute packaging. I like every single color on you!

    • Isabella Muse

Yay! Nice haul Teasha! πŸ˜€ Yeah, it’s plastic! Totally reusable too! πŸ˜€ Thank you xoxo!
