Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab The Great London Spaghetti Hunt Perfume Oil Review

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab The Great London Spaghetti Hunt Perfume Oil is one of several, limited edition perfume oils from the Parenthood 2016 Collection which celebrates Lilith’s birthday. Lilith is the daughter of Beth and Ted the brains and noses behind Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab and Black Phoenix Alchemy Trading Post. Each year, since her birth, both Beth and Ted create a round of perfume oils to celebrate Lilith’s birthday. I can’t think of a nicer way to celebrate your child’s birth!

Not to mention these oils are a great gift for fans of the Lab and gourmand lovers like me are bound to find a sweet cotton candy, bubble gum, or pastry scented fragrance in these releases.

I believe it was earlier this Summer when Beth and Ted went on a trip to London with Lilith (that’s Ted and Lilith on the label of the bottle!). During their trip Lilith was apparently hungry after a long day of touring the city and wanted pasta. Ted, being the great father he is, hunted down a spot to enjoy spaghetti.

No, the Great London Spaghetti Hunt doesn’t smell like pasta and tomato sauce but it does smell like black coffee and tiramisu. This excited me to say the least as Ted is a wizard with coffee blends! Have you smelled Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab Pralines and Powdered Sugar Perfume Oil? It is simply incredible and captures the essence of New Orleans, pralines, and cafe au lait perfectly!

The Great London Spaghetti Hunt is absolutely nothing like that scent. This one is very interesting to say the least and is testimony how perfume oil can morph, change, and become something entirely new and different after it sets and dries down. In the bottle, it has a creamy coffee note with a back note of pastry! I wouldn’t say that pastry is quite tiramisu but should you enter an Italian restaurant or pastry shop that sells espressos and sfogliatella you can completely visual what this smells like in the bottle. Wet on my skin the coffee note becomes stronger but sweeter with a creamy mascarpone cheesecake element.

Now things get interesting as it dries down and the scent completely changes and morphs into a powdery vanilla. The coffee is gun at this point as is the sweet pastry element. The powdery vanilla has a mature almost grandmotherly element about which might not appealing to most noses especially ones expecting coffee and tiramisu. Oddly, I liked the dry down and thought it added an interesting depth to the fragrance. However, I’ll happily express the fact that I was disappointed it wasn’t a creamy coffee and cake scent!

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab The Great London Spaghetti Hunt Perfume Oil is an interesting fragrance that holds a few surprises but gourmand lovers might not necessarily like those surprises.
