L’Oreal Hydra Genius for Dry Skin

L’Oreal Hydra Genius Skincare is arriving at drugstores soon for the Spring 2017 season and just in time for the cold weather ahead. I don’t have much information about this launch but Walgreens has some place holders for the line. Apparently the collection will feature moisturizers and serums that are customized by skin type one of which is for extra dry skin (hi, that’s me!). There’s going to be a water balm moisturizing which I found highly interesting as this is testimony how heavily the Korean and Asian skincare world has inspired out currently offerings at the drugstore.

L’Oreal is legendary for over fragrancing their products to death but they do have some very fine, solid skincare options available. I can’t believe I’m saying this as I don’t mind fragrance but if they’d lighten up on the fragrance a little they would likely gain a bigger fan base for their skincare.

None the less, scent or not, I will be seeking out and trying the new Hydra Genius Skincare Collection. I imagine the moisturizers will be similar to L’Oreal’s sister brand offering from Garnier, Nutritioniste Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel Cream! But let’s hope they leave out the alcohol.

What do you think of this new L’Oreal Skincare Collection?

Think you’ll try it?

Do share!

this sounds interesting… Imma wait and see how dang overscented this stuff is. I actually like the scent in the L’Oreal golden balm stuff, but so much of L’Oreal smells like bad, cheap perfume. HATE.

You are exactly right – L’oreal has some amazing stuff, but if they would leave. the. damn. scent. out. they would be light years ahead!!

I think this was supposed to be a dupe for Belif Aqua Bomb. Interesting to see how it compares!

This is curious, I’ll wait your reviews. Dry skin sucks and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy but it’s ten times as crappy when you’re sensitive to scents and other ingredients.

Most scents are just awful and they clash with everything else you’re putting on your person. I prefer unscientific but the least these big companies could do is stick to some simple common scents so you don’t mix things weird and end up stinking.

Then again maybe it’s just me…

I just purchased it and slapped some on my face. It feels good–cool, with a nice consistency–but I will have use for a few weeks before I form an opinion. Immediately my skin felt so soft and so smooth (see ingredient list below), but I’m looking for more long-yerm, deep hydration. I can get glycerin and dimethicon in a cheap makeup primer.

Per usual, the large box contains a small tub. I don’t know why this continues to surprise and disappoint me.

Alcohol is the fourth ingredient, behind water, glycerin and dimethicone.

Unfortunately, it is very fragranced. It’s been on my face for 10 minutes and I already have a headache. And the scent does not seem to be dissipating anytime soon.

I see Neutrogena launched a similar product line. Perhaps that one has less fragrance and alcohol. I might give that one a shot and give this to someone who enjoys smelling like an old lady wearing cheap perfume.
