About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Hmmm…pass. I’ll stick with my lovely mini holiday set, which is enough chubby to last me a good long while. If Clinique had gone the extra mile to reinvent these shades instead of just repackage them, my interested would be peaked. Aside from the nostalgia and cute aesthetic, there is nothing really appealing here, unless you do not already have the shades in your collection. Also, something like this seems like it should have a purpose, a “beauty with a cause” moment. Are Clinique and Crayola donating any of the profits to a children’s charity? I would purchase something, if I knew the proceeds were going to help children, maybe for schools, children’s hospitals, or just children in need.

Personally, I’m not a fan of the packaging. I’m not sure why a brand like Clinique would be doing something like this. But to each, their own 🙂
And if anyone is wondering, someone from Clinique said, “They’re all colors that we already carry at Clinique. Just renamed to match Crayola color names and put in Crayola tubes.” So, good to know if you already own most or all of the Chubby Stick lip shades 🙂

These are adorable and quite clever, probably will only get one since I did purchase the holiday mini set and am enjoying that set very much. Cute idea, sure beats the bowling motif that MAC offered last year, that was really rather odd.

  • Kimmwc03

How cute! If these show up at my local counter then I will probably pick up a mini set.

I agree with some of the other comments. If these were new shades that would be fine but they are just recycled shades. Clinique does skincare better than their makeup in my opinion and I used to work for Clinique. When I left the company they were desperately trying to reach out to millennials with most of their marketing and that’s what this seems to be.

I’ve been sitting here trying to figure out which colors the renamed ones match up to, since I already own a few. I think I need to see them in the store to really be sure, its hard comparing online. Its like beauty detective work!

haha likewise, I have all the originals and all the intense but some look like shades I don’t already own!?

After going over these myself and then confirming with a Clinique Consultant, here are the New name shades with the names of the original Clinique Cubby Sticks:

      Melon – Mighty Mimosa
      Mango Tango – Oversized Orange
      Pink Sherbert – Woppin’ Watermelon
Tickle Me Pink – New LE shade
      Razzmatazz – Pudgy Peony
      Marvelous – Super Strawberry
      Wild Strawberry – Chunky Cherry

      (Intense)
Brick Red – New LE shade
      Red Violet – Grandest Grape
Fuzzy Wuzzy – New LE shade

Kinda disappointed. I thought these were brand new shades until I read the comments. The packaging is cute, though.

Well, even though I’m on a financial diet, I had to order the four-pack of minis directly from the Clinique site, though I see now that the four-pack is also available at Sephora. Coulda gotten better free gifts and points. But no matter. I am going to give this mini pack to my college-age niece because I know she likes the Chubby Sticks line. I think she’ll also really enjoy that these are minis so they fit in your purse easily and are just a better size. The crayola packaging is so cute and retro, I would think they are marketing more to Baby Boomers/Gen X-ers like me. I love the mini pack!
