Clinique Chubby Plump & Shine Liquid Lip Plumping Gloss ($17) is a new lipgloss that the brand recently introduced to their Chubby Lip Family. Although it looks like a Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in style it’s actually a high-shine plumping lipgloss.
As a fan of Clinique’s entire Chubby Collection, I decided I had to check this one out for myself.
Here’s my review.
Clinique Chubby Plump & Shine Liquid Lip Plumping Gloss ($17) comes housed in a chubby twist up chubby pencil that holds 0.13 oz of lipgloss. The packaging resembles Clinique’s Chubby Sticks exactly so, if you’re storing the lipgloss and balms together you can easily get the two confused. The slanted applicator has a larger hole where the gloss releases out of when you twist the bottom of the pen. The gloss flows freely and fairly fast so, you can easily but the applicator can get messy so, wiping it off after each use is recommended to keep things nice and tidy.
There’s a lot going on here for one simple gloss! Moisture, shine, and yes, plumping too. Don’t worry, it’s not one of those peppermint and cinnamon laced stinging plumping lipgloss formulas. This formula simply relies on a thicker texture to give your lips a plush, plumped up looks. It contains no fragrance nor flavor and does not sting nor tingle. I don’t know if I’d call it a tacky gloss but it is fairly sticky with a loose, runny consistency that applies smoothly on my dry lips. It’s one of those lipgloss formulas you don’t want to be wearing during a breezy day when your hair is down. I liked the texture a lot! It felt hydrating on my lips and quite lightweight. Although, it does transfer a good deal if you’re having a cup of tea, etc…It’s not a lipgloss you can eat a meal in or even drink a cup of tea through. I can get about two hours of wear from it as it disappears rather quickly. It has beautiful shine and the one shade I purchased had excellent pigmentation.
I was happy with Clinique Chubby Plump & Shine Liquid Lip Plumping Gloss. I could see myself purchasing other shades. If you’re cool with a thicker, stickier lipgloss formula and love color, shine, and a plush, plumped look you’ll do just fine with this formula.
