Laneige at Sephora Soon!

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Laneige is currently sold at Sephora Canada as you may already know and of course, it’s also sold at Target. Or at least it used to be at Target! Recently, I’ve heard reports of the brand disappearing from Target shelves. My Target still has a display up and available but a lot of readers have asked what was going on with the brand as they couldn’t find it at Target locations.

Looks like Laneige will be sold at Sephora and Sephora.com shortly which could be why can’t find it at Target. Beginning June 2017, Sephora.com will begin carrying the brand and it moves into 150 Sephora door locations by the beginning of September 2017.

Both Ulta and Sephora have been expending their range of Korean beauty for a while now. Both offer some great brands in K-Beauty such as Skin Food, Tony Moly, and many more. No matter how popular Korean brand becomes in the US I’m always terribly fascinated that after all these years blogging K-Beauty that it’s finally become so much more mainstream and easy to purchase!

I’m only assuming at this point that Laneige will be leaving Target but are you happier with the brand at Sephora or would you rather have it stay at Target. I thought if it went to Sephora we might see much more from the brand then the smaller collection that Target carried. Or one can hope that will happen.

We shall see.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Is it just me?? but I can’t get on board with buying something that was in a “drugstore” formerly and now in Sephora…… maybe I am biased bc Laneige doesn’t appeal to me at all? Not sure, but the addition of Laneige being carried at Sephora doesn’t excite me at all…. anyone care to chime in on their thoughts on something that is carried in “drugstore” now being carried at a higher end store?

Laneige is actually a mid-range, cheaper department store brand in Korea. So it’s actually more fitting to be in Sephora than Target. Even when it was in Target it wasn’t really “drugstore price”

I’m excited – Target never had much of a selection and Sephora will give the brand better exposure. Of course we can earn points and use discounts there too.

  • Saiba

Yeah I’m pretty sure it’s leaving Target completely because you can’t even find it on the site anymore.

Well that’s sad and possibly good because as you said Sephora will have a bigger selection. So I’m happy with it being at Sephora. Don’t think there will be a big price change either so no consequences there.

Wonder why Target is phasing it out though :/

Laneige is a pass for me. I got deluxe samples on some moisturizers and loved the texture, but the fragrance made me break out. I loved how it worked underneath makeup and everything, too, but every time I tried, same problems!

I’m just hoping prices don’t increase dramatically. I liked having Laneige at Target because you could score good deals on it occasionally, like when they would offer a $5 gift card with a skincare purchase of x amount of $. However, more often than not Laneige seemed to be out of stock in my local stores.

Yup. All the Targets near by me had their Laneige products on clearance about a month ago. I was able to snag a bunch of toner for about $3 a bottle. I talked to a “beauty adviser” at Target and she said K-beauty products will be sold at Target stores soon. I believe you can buy them online in the meantime. I’m really glad this is happening. I no longer have to wait for shipping or risk of buying fake products.

YES!!!! I have been patiently waiting. I have been wanting to try their lip sleeping mask.

    • Deb

Katy, you can get it on Amazon for $13. I’m on my second jar, got both of them on Amazon and they are authentic. The product is awesome!

I don’t have an opinion but think it’s interesting that brands (Soap & Glory, for one) can bounce from low-end to high-end retailers like this. It seems like once it’s been at a lower-end retailer, a higher-end one wouldn’t want to stock it, for fear of losing prestige. (I mean, I know it’s the same product and I’m not a snob about this stuff, but branding/marketing is such a weird, nebulous world.) I wonder if the price points will change. S&G definitely lowered their prices after leaving Sephora. The Laneige stuff is pricey for Target, but not Sephora. FWIW, I have liked the Laneige stuff I’ve tried — which have all been samples, I think.

    • Isabella Muse

Dora, you are completely correct. It is highly interesting how they can bounce from Target to Sephora without looking face. Not that Laneige is a bad brand or a lower end one but once you’ve been at Target people automatically assume you’re budget friendly. Making the jump to Sephora does not seem to harm brands at all, if anything at all they seem to gain even more popularity!

      • Dora

I bet they couldn’t do it if they first launched at say, Walmart. I think Target — even though it’s inexpensive — has a certain cachet that other places don’t.

  • Claudia

It’s not at Target anymore. One quick search on their site turns up nothing but a message saying they do not carry this brand.

  • Christina Tran

Sephora is a better avenue for Laneige to be sold at because their return policy is generous and it’s easy to navigate their website. I guess I’m not terribly excited because I’ve never been too excited about Laneige and prefer Sulwhasoo and Amore Pacific, but now that it’s going to be sold in Sephora, I’ll probably dabble in it some more.

After I’ve purchased something at Target for 70% off( Laneige Concealer), it would be hard for me to pay full price at Sephora.

It IS interesting that Laneige is going upscale. The Marcia products (she’s gone on to do fitflop now) went from Barney’s and the Bliss catalog/spa to Sephora to Ulta. Soap and Glory didn’t start with Bliss, because Marcia had moved on, but it did go S to U. Cargo started atBarney’s, then S, now online Sephora and Kohl’s. The trend seems to be more downmarketing than upscaling. From I’s reviews, Laneige seems to be a solid line. My personal taste for AB is not in line with S, though. Too much alcohol and fragrance, not to mention my allergies. I’ll stick with a Cosrx through Ulta and others. I think it’s a good move for Laneige, though. S is starting some Sulwhasoo, too. I love the proliferation of worldwide brands.

As a half Korean and American, I just hope while Sephora is getting more ‘Korean skincare or even makeup’ that they don’t ruin KBeauty image and don’t jack up the price. (Sorry for the negative comment)

So far the they haven’t jacked up the price for laneige and I don’t even use that brand. I have others but it would be nice to see Pony cosmetics in the u.s 🙂

    • Isabella Muse

It’s not negative at all, it’s truth! They have in fact jacked up the prices on a few brands but it isn’t too too bad yet! I’d love it if Pony came to Sephora! Memebox did a few collabs and they were fab!
