Against My Better Judgement I Purchased the Tarte Clay Play Face Shaping Palette

Armed with a ten dollar coupon code I ended up purchasing the Tarte Clay Play Face Shaping Palette ($46) against my better judgement late last night. If I’m honest with myself I know I don’t really need this palette. Tarte packs this one with 12 Amazonian Clay Matte Eyeshadow Palettes, three of which apparently have a universal formula that act as nose, brow, and contour powders. As you know, I’m not much of a contouring wizard so, it seems pointless for me to even go there with this palette. But of course, I’m always suckered into hoping that this palette will turn into holy grail status.

Plus, hey I can use some flattering natural matte shades or at least that’s what I told myself.

I’ll be the first one to admit that the Tarte Clay Play Face Shaping Palette has a lot of “my” shades in it but also, that many of them appears to run together and look the same. But I’m reserving judgement until I get it and we can go from there.

Shades include:

  • Journey (rosy buff)
  • Stone (rosy brown)
  • Solstice (ivory)
  • Terracotta (warm taupe)
  • Dunes (slate brown)
  • Smoke (coffee)
  • Sand (cream)
  • Desert (cool taupe)
  • Ember (amber brown)
  • Onyx (black)
  • Instinct (buff)
  • Timber (chestnut)

I think I could make use out of a lot of these shades. I’m hoping it’ll make a nice travel palette. It’s scented like vanilla too by the very way!

Do I need the Tarte Clay Play Face Shaping Palette? Probably not but it didn’t prevent me from purchasing it.

Did you snag it?

It’s available now at tarte.com and at sephora.com.

Haven’t yet but will wait for your review! I always think “travel” when I see palettes like this and hope that THIS will be the one for me. I’ve yet to find that perfect travel palette.

The title of the post made me smile! I think I could describe almost all my purchases as “against my better judgement” since I have way too much stuff already. But I hear you and, since it’s Tarte, I’ll be passing anyway.

I kind of can’t believe they have the gall to charge $46 for this thing. Glad you were able to use a coupon! I hope you end up loving it. Say what you will about the shades; Tarte does seem to have its eyeshadow formula on point of late! 🙂

I know it, for some reason it seems a little expensive to me too! If you head to their site they have a pop up that gets you a coupon code 😀 that helped hehe!

If the shades work for you Isabella and the mattes compliment some, or lots, of your shimmery eyeshadows, then this is a good buy – better still with the coupon.
Console yourself Isabella, because you are in good company here – it’s the story of my makeup life!
