Tarte Lifted Sweatproof Mascara Surprises and Delights

I’m not really sure what I expected from Tarte Lifted Sweatproof Mascara ($23) but I was honestly surprised and delighted by it. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised really because I am a big fan and supporter of Lights, Camera, and Lashes so, why would it be surprising that Lifted Sweatproof Mascara was just as incredible?

Well, maybe on some hidden level I wasn’t really taking their entire Athleisure Collection serious. Maybe I can’t really take athleisure in general serious? It makes me think of J-Lo’s dubsmash, “Yoga pants yaassss!”

Tarte Lifted Sweatproof Mascara launched a few months ago and was somewhat marketed as “gym” mascara. You know, that mascara you can run 5 miles in, do a spinning class with, and get it an hour of yoga without it smearing or giving you a bad case of racoon eyes. I workout at home at stupid o’clock in the morning without a face full of makeup on in my basement. Wearing mascara is the least thing I’m thinking about when I’m sweating on my treadmill. I’ll be the first to say that it’s ridiculous to market makeup to workout in but hey, I get it! Some people want to look their very best no matter the situation and that’s cool.

Of course, to test this I wore it through a workout and on my drier eyes it was fab. Didn’t smear, didn’t smudge, no issues there but keep in mind my mascara very rarely smears anyway! It removes super easily as well at the end of the day with oil-based eye makeup remover.

What’s so wonderful about it anyway? I wouldn’t say the wear was what impressed me. What did impress me was the simple applicator and packaging and the fact that all this somehow translated into full, lush lashes. How did that happen? I always expect that I need some sort of big fancy applicator to get the best looking lashes. Tarte’s unassuming bushy, traditional applicator works a treat at lifting lashes upwards and out while giving them a fuller, longer appearance. I’m going to throw it out there and say this stuff worked even better than Lights, Camera, Lashes! It just gave my lashes nice lift and length. Interestingly enough I even like the brown black formula that matched my own lash shade perfectly and gave me a doe-like look! Not to mention it didn’t make my lashes stiff or crunchy and it didn’t flake off as the day progresses.

Does anyone know if this is limited edition?

I sure hope not.

This was a surprise hit for me too, Muse! My eyes are hooded and this is the only mascara that I don’t have to wear a waterproof topcoat with! I also like that it’s brown 🙂

I don’t why I was surprised because I do love Lights, Camera, Lashes but for some reason I was like, “WOW This is good!” 😀 I really liked the brown too, it gave me a nice doe-y look ;-D I’m glad to hear I wasn’t alone loving it!

I really need to try this. I don’t do the gym, but I live in Texas and it’s often hot and very humid in my part of the state. I have to wear waterproof makeup not because I might cry, but because of the heat, sweat, and humidity. I think this mascara might have been made for the Texas summers. I’m sure hoping so!

I have to try this now! I’m always looking for the best smudge proof flake proof mascara and this sounds amazing!(:

I have not tried this yet, as I still have 5 tubes of Tarte Gifted mascara from the Holiday offer on QVC in November. I LOVE the Gifted for everyday wear, as it provides nice length and volume, while looking natural and leaving lashes soft and holding curl. I read a couple of reviews indicating that the Tarte Lifted is a water resistant version of the Tarte Gifted, in a brown shade. Sounds great to me!

Will check this out. I head o the gym after work so my face is still made up.

I wore mine to work out in several classes at the gym and I didn’t have any problems. LOVE the brown color. Much better for wearing to the gym and also if you just want a nice light summer look that’s not going anywhere. I loved the whole thing! Tarte makes my favorite mascaras!

    Hi Muse,

I’ve been using the Perricone No Mascara Mascara for a few years now thanks to your review from 2014 — would never have thought to try it based on the name, so thanks for the rec 🙂 Any thoughts on how this one compares? Thanks!
