Urban Decay Naked Skin Shapeshifter for Summer 2017

Hey there here’s a closer look at those Urban Decay Naked Skin Shapeshifter Palettes I was chatting your ear off about last week. They aren’t available yet but Urban Decay slapped some new photos up of them on their website so, I thought I’d post about ’em. They are releasing them in two color selections one of which is a Light Medium and the other is a Medium Dark. They’ll set you back $45 and they are made up of a double-sided palette that includes powders on one side and creams on the other.

Let’s take a peek!

Urban Decay Naked Skin Shapeshifter are pretty much an all-on-one contouring and color-correcting palette. There are medium and darking contouring shades here as well as color correcting shades to neutralize darkness under the eyes as well as lighter contour shades and highlighters to capture light and leave your complexion with a luminous glow. The total palette combines 9 different cream and powder formulas (the powder are 0.13 oz in size and the creams are 0.07 oz).

The packaging is pretty slick too coming in Urban Decay’s “Naked” rose gold compact with a slim, rectangle shape that should fit easily into your purse or tote for travel.

I’m honestly not much of a contouring mastermind in all honesty but these will likely get a good deal of attention when they launch in June I’m sure.

Are you excited about this release?

Urban Decay Naked Skin Shapeshifter Palettes are available now at sephora.com and ulta.com.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. It sounds crazy but I’m excited about NOT wanting these. I love UD and the Naked series in particular, but I have come to the conclusion that contouring and/or highlighting is pointless, at least for me. I’ve tried all brands (prestige and drugstore) and I’ve spent enough money to know when it’s time to quit.

I haven’t even bothered with contouring. It’s a lot of work and I honestly, don’t notice the difference not to mention I’m no expert at it! I would want these maybe to brighten up my eye area and contour under my eyes but I can do that with my concealer so not necessary to buy an entire palette!

Too much contouring makes my face look dirty. I started just topping my blush with highlighter and that’s about it. Maybe a little contour on the side of my nose if I feel like it. I’ve been experimenting with it along my jawline, since it’s a K-beauty trend, but not sure how I feel about it.

I agree that too much contouring (on anybody) makes my/their face look dirty or too “paint by numbers.” Why try so hard to make yourself look like something you’re not? I’m off this hype train. These palettes seem to have too many colors in them for one person to use, would be nice for a MUA, though.

I think it can work for some people, some folks have incredible makeup skills and they can chisel years and inches off their face. But I just end up looking too made up or as you said a little too dirty, like I played in mud 🙂

I have no cheekbones so I do enjoy contouring, but the level of contouring that would utilize this much product just feels like too much work to be worthwhile for anyone other than makeup artists.

This is a cool idea. Having everything you need for conturing in one palette is handy!

I think Urban Decay is a bit late to this whole contouring kit business. Anybody who contours regularly with probably already has products from Anastasia, KVD, NYX, etc. Realistically, there isn’t that much variation in the shades that someone needs for doing contouring on themselves. It isn’t like blush or eyeshadow where different colours create different looks.

Also, in real life, heavy contouring rarely looks believable. I’ve seen several girls just out on the street that had really nicely blended and placed contouring on their face, but I could still tell that it’s makeup and not their actual features, simply because it doesn’t change when they move and light hits from different angles. Not that it doesn’t look good, but it just doesn’t really look anywhere near natural outside of photographs.

would have been lit if the hadn’t ruined it by putting cream in the same pallet

This palette looks great, very user friendly and great for those of us who are on the go a lot! I definitely prefer powder formulas to cream but its nice to have the options.

I just about this today. Absolutely love it! Cotouring is so easy and does take long. Your face will only look dirty if you use too much! Love the fact you have the choice between powder and cream! I tend to mix between the two for a more natural look in some areas.

It’s meant to read I just bought it today and that it DOESN’T take long. Stupid phone lol
