Macy’s Beauty Box Subscription On the Way this Summer

Everyone and their mom has some sort of beauty box subscription lately and the Macy’s Beauty Box is the next one to hit the scene. Arriving this Summer, the Macy’s Beauty Bob Subscription will set you back $15 and gets you five deluxe beauty samples packed up in a makeup bag as well as a $5 coupon off your next beauty purchase making the box $10.

Nifty right? By the way, thanks to Jess for the tip off on this!

Now earlier today, I was discussing the Play by Sephora Iconic Edition Box which I felt wasn’t really worth $20. On top of that, I also expressed how the regular Play by Sephora Box at $10 wasn’t one I was feeling either. Why? Because a lot of the contents are items I have already tried. If Macy’s can somehow hit the sweet spot by introducing me to brand new products for $15 I’d be all in. The price isn’t exactly right since Sephora Play gets you the same amount of samples for $10 bucks. However, Macy’s does throw a $5 coupon your way for a future purchase. It’s debatable if that’s a good thing or not as it limits you to a purchase at Macy’s only obviously and you still have to pay $15 upfront for the box.

None the less, add Macy’s Beauty Box to a long list of different makeup and beauty box subscriptions already available. I’ve not really a fan of all these boxes (I miss you Memebox and I love you Facetory) unless they offer something truly unique! Let’s hope Macy’s gets that right.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Hmmm, very interesting. If the stock photo is anything to go by, this looks like yet more samples of the same old things we’ve all tried a million times. I hope they switch it up a bit! I will definitely be curious to see some reviews once people start receiving boxes.

my thoughts exactly. They have to step it up and offer something unique in order to grab my attention!

Thanks for the information on the subscriptions and I’d like to hear about more. Each time I read about one of your recommendations I get a ton of ads popping up and I don’t know if they are legitimate. I get the one from Target but it’s not a subscription but it seems like the last 4 boxes are all mascaras fromantic a few seasons back and samples from when L’Oréal first launched its clay masks so I skipped them.
I like to be introduced to new products or popular products to see if it works for me regardless of the hype.

My pleasure Adrienne! Wait, what ads? I don’t have any pop up ads…can you take a screenshot? I’d like to see what’s happening and correct it immediately it is coming from my side! Sorry bout that!

So it’s Sephora Play, but $5 more.

I’m so burned out by beauty boxes, haha. It has to be REALLY good to get my attention, and anymore it just feels like the same old, same old. Or like The Who said: “Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.”

Unless all of the perfume samples are sprayers (pet peeve – when they have a pop open top. I always spill it) and they offer some more prestige brands, this is a hard pass. Especially for $15.

I’m so done with beauty boxes. I can’t bear to throw away another RED friggen lippie. UGH. That’s all they ever send!

  • Deanna

Well, I subscribed, so we shall see! I can always cancel at any time.
I like shopping Macy’s for beauty products; they have a decent variety of brands, some brand items exclusive to Macy’s, and regular sales. FTR shipping is free, tax is 75 cents (I am in Tennessee.)

Will do! FYI, my Macy’s confirmation email stated I’d be billed between the 1st and the 10th of each month.

Thanks Deanna 😀 Looking forward to hearing the good word (or bad one!).

Hmm, another fairly affordable subscription box… These are so hard for me to pass up, but after being pretty consistently disappointed with the Play box, maybe I’ll cancel that one and do this one, if they get good reviews. I hate that Sephora seems to send a lot of really typical products (so tired of getting porefessional samples!!). Ipsy has been hit or miss for me as well, ever since I signed up when they started way back in…what, 2011, 2012? I already cancelled my Facetory box since I have too many masks, but I can always use more makeup, haha.

I just signed up too- looking forward to something new. Currently subscribe to Birchbox and Sephora but not impressed with the last 2 Sephora bags at all. Have gotten some perfume samplers in the past with cosmetic purchases at Macy’s so hoping this will have the same quality of samples.

I just subscribed but then I was looking at the gimme brow by benefit and noticing that it’s going to be way too light so I went back into my account to see if there was anywhere I could fill out some sort of a beauty profile and I can’t find anything. Am I missing something? Or is this going to be all random colors and shades?

  • Deanna

Macy’s charged my account for this a few days ago, for the first time. However, today the charge disappeared from my bank, the amount credited to my account. If I have an e-mail from Macy’s explaining why, I haven’t found it.
    Anyone else have this happen?
