About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I may be the only one who thinks the cool palette looks muddy and disappointing. Where are the blues and purples and greens, especially a good dark hunter green? Too many neutrals and pinks and off-whites, of which I already have a kajillion. 🙁 Oh well, not having a local Sephora means less temptation.

Etude House released something similar earlier last month! I feel like Sephora brand eye shadows are okay; you never hear anyone say anything about good about Ulta brand eye shadows so I’d be much more inclined to buy a Sephora palette.

    • Isabella Muse

mmm the Etude House Personal Pro Palette aren’t quite this color range though!

    • Emily

I haven’t tried Ulta shadows, but their gel eye pencil is quite good! I purchased one when I needed something to get me to the free shipping minimum, and I reach for it all the time. I look forward to reviews of these pro palettes but this sort of thing doesn’t tempt me much.

Hi Sista! How was your long weekend? I didn’t have a long weekend, but it was nice to have yesterday off.

Yes, I saw these first thing this morning and want them all, especially the cool one. But I’m going to wait for some trusted reviews (you!) to see if they are worth $68 each. I’ve generally had good luck with Sephora products, but they can be hit-or-miss, especially the larger palettes.

Besides, I spent a ton of $ last week hauling all the Marc Jacobs Beauty eye shadow palettes (except for the one they haven’t yet stocked and I’m stalking the Sephora site for it).

Hey you! It was fab! I did have a great long weekend! Sorry 🙁 a lot of people I know weren’t lucky enough to have Monday off. The holiday kind of fell crummy this year! I plopped the warm one in my cart but I’m waffling on hitting submit due to the $68 price tag! Ouchie! That’s kind of high! LOL! I think you’ll be much happier with those MJ ones!

I saw these in person (warm and cool) 2 days ago. The warm isn’t quite as warm as pictured and the cool toned palette is not as “purple” as it looks in the photos. The warm one was OOS at the store; I was glad when it popped up on the Sephora site! I ordered it immediately.

    • Isabella Muse

thanks Beth for the deets 😀 That warm one is calling my name!

  • Sammy

Ouch! $68? Perhaps it’s just me, but that seems rather high for the Sephora brand.

This is the Sephora Pro line. They have a “regular” line and a “Pro” line. Their “regular” palettes are pretty bad, they’re like $30 for 70 mini eyeshadows. The quads and trios are ok. I’m assuming since these are part of the “pro” series, they’ll be equivalent to the individual shadows, which are pretty good. There is quite a difference between the Sephora brand brushes and the Sephora Pro brushes.

The warm palette looks soooooo pretty and could maybe pass as a dupe for the Natasha Denona Sunset palette. Since other readers have mentioned that it looks different in person, I’d rather wait for reviews and actual customer photos to be posted. I’m still pretty sure I’m going to buy it, however.

These are fairly expensive for Sephora and sometimes their quality is a tad hit and miss. Personally I think these palettes are a bit large and there are probably a lot of similar shades in each one of them. I think you would have to swatch these for yourself and see how they go. Lots of pinks, oranges and reds – very few greens (as Susan said above), no greys or real taupes. Hmmm.

  • Kish

I am drawn to this one. The reviews indicate that it is much better quality than Sephora’s regular palettes. However, I don’t always trust the reviews since the bad ones I write seem to mysteriously disappear…
I’ll probably get this. Along with a couple of those highlighters and eye primers haha.

    • Isabella Muse

Let me know what you think! Hopefully it’s awesome 😀

  • Chris

Catching up on the blog; seems like a lot of companies thought the same way — make palettes with browns, reds & oranges!

Glad I bought the Urban Decay Heat. But I could have bought the ABH Modern Renaissance or the Tarte Peach palette…..

    • Isabella Muse

Yeah! It’s fall so we’ll be seeing a lot of those shades I’m sure 😀 Tarte has a peach palette?

      • Chris

Oops, was tired when I typed yesterday — the other ‘T’ company — Too Faced! Insert red face here!
