About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. No I won’t be indulging. Don’t we have enough of these palettes already? I swear, I am so jaded with makeup right now. It’s the same thing just churned out over and over. More matte lipsticks, more highlighters, more of the same thing.

SSDY, minimal differences, price tags that exceed their regular (high) price tags, and nothing but mood suits me. Easy skip.

I need your help. I am so interested in the Hourglass ambient powders but it’s daunting to pick out shades on my own. That’s why I’d love a ready made palette, but only if I could wear a majority of the shades. Are their holiday sets made for light and dark skin tones, or primarily for those in the middle?

    • Isabella Muse

I always feel like the palettes meet in the middle! They contain shades for both lighter and medium toned ladies/men. Like this one appears to have darker blush shades and lighter highlighting ones. So, it feels like it meets in the middle!

Totally a pass for me. Sooo overpriced and doesn’t excite me at all. However, I am a sucker and bought the new Becca Ulta shimmering skin perfector exclusive, AND the one exclusive to the Becca site… Will YOU be checking out either of these?

    • Isabella Muse

probably not, I’m not much of a highlighter user to be honest!

Getting this as my “push” present from me to me haha i always wanted one and never gotten the previous ones; but i really like the powders whenever i go to sephora

Nope…hourglass is already an expensive brand and I will be forever annoyed that at a time when most brands are offering greater values in their holidays sets hourglass is chargung more per gram than usual – boo!

I believe this is bigger than their original edit palettes correct me if I’m wrong!

  • melody

haha looks like I’m the only one actually intrigued by this palette. I’ve never purchased one of their palettes or any of their products really but this one looks good. hmm..i may have to splurge this Christmas.

From what I can find online, the 2015 edit pallet contained 6 shades, with a combined total of .29 ounces of product for $80. The 2016 Surreal palette contained 5 shades, with a total of .3 ounces of product, for $80. Any idea what the total fraction of an ounce may be in this palette? I assume it will be similar to the past 2 years.
