Lipstick Queen Nothing But the Nudes Review & Swatches

Lipstick Queen Nothing But the Nudes Lipstick is on my hit list for Fall! This new collection features three all new, nude lipsticks that will become a permanent part of Lipstick Queen’s Collection and it arrives just in time for the cooler weather because as far as I’m concerned a smoky brown eye and nude lipstick is totally my autumn look of choice! Forget mattes and metallics give me nudes and smoke!

“Just like the truth, there are many variations of nude”-Poppy King, Lipstick Queen Founder.

Indeed Poppy and you gift us with three luxurious nudes that have a hint of a gorgeous sheen and a beautifully formulated buttery texture that will keep our lips happy and our looks gorgeous.

Lipstick Queen Nothing But the Nudes Lipstick arrive in a nude, flesh shaded barrels with a pinky nude shaded Lipstick Queen emblem decorating the middle of the cap. Each lipstick holds 0.12 oz of product for $24 each and are created with natural oils and waxes as well as Vitamin E for hydration.

Shades include:

  • The Truth (light medium pink nude)
  • The Whole Truth (beige peachy nude)
  • Nothing But the Truth (beige nude)

I think the shades definitely lean towards complimenting a certain skin tone. I’m an advocate of saying that you should wear colors you’re most comfortable with or shades you really like. I’m not one for limiting what I can wear because of my skin tone. But I think nude lipstick is the exception. Some nudes look better on certain skin types and I do believe that’s the case with these shades. I consider myself medium light with warmer undertones and I felt like The Whole Truth and Nothing But the Truth suited me best where as The Truth was probably a better shade for someone with a lighter skin and a pinker undertone. Granted, you can wear anything you want but I do think the shades were created with to compliment certain skin tones and I think the two darker are best for medium or darker skin tones where as the lighter shade is best for lighter complexions.

As with all Lipstick Queen Lipsticks the formula doesn’t disappoint. The texture is a little dense at first but after a single application it becomes much more softer. I’d liken it to a lip balm or butter as it has a balm-y texture that glides quite easily over lips. A single pass provided excellent full pigmentation with a high sheen finish that gave the lipstick a certain glossy look or as the brand described it, a vinyl-like finish. I found the formula comfortable to wear without migration issues and a wear of around five hours without color fading in that time period. I detected no flavor or fragrance.

These are the perfect shades for pairing up with a smoky eye look and glistening peach blush. They’ll follow you through Fall to create some very beautiful lip looks. I was quite happy with the formula but I just wish they released them in more shades! Perhaps she’ll extend the line at some point because if she did I’d totally buy more.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. You sold me on this one! I’m gonna head out to Ulta to check them all out later.

I got two of them! I tried them all and thought Nothing But The Truth was too brown on me so I did not get that one. I don’t think I’m fairer than you (NC25ish right now bec it’s summer) so I was fully expecting the colors to be similar on our skin tones. But sometimes, I guess it just boils down to what a person is used to seeing on her face. Either way, I’m so glad I saw your post because I would not have given these a second glance otherwise. They are a slightly better formula than her saint/sinner lipsticks, I feel like. And I like this packaging better too. Thumbs up!!!

Very pretty! I like most of the swatches that I see for Lipstick Queen products. I’m still trying to convince myself to spend the money tho. Maybe one day!
