Sephora The Matte Turning Your Sink Into a Vanity

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Sephora the Matte has the ability to turn your sink into a make-shift vanity. How? This sturdy foldable matte goves over your sink to create a hard surface to lay your makeup and other beauty items. It’s actually inspired by girls or guys who are getting ready in smaller bathrooms in the morning but I think anyone can use it.

A fold-able mat that goes over a sink to create a hard surface for makeup and other beauty products. I don’t think you technically need to be in a small space to use this. I have a larger bathroom vanity with two sinks and plenty of counter space but I’d still make a lot of use out of this I think because I’m chronically dropping stuff into the sink as I lean over to apply my makeup. This is a pretty brilliant idea! I wonder if it works as well as it is sounds.

It folds up when not in use and apparently when it is folded up it’s about the size of a tablet which means it will store easily and travel well!

It’s $26 and available now at Sephora.com.

I’m thinking of buying one! It seems like a rather brilliant little idea!

What do you think?

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Neat! But I’d have to see it in person to see how big it is. But yeah, it’s a great idea for sure.

Moving in with my partner next month and I think the space taken up by my beauty collection will be an issue lol. I think i need this!

haha uh oh! they’ll just have to understand you need an entire room for your stuff 😀

I’m forced to do my makeup in a tiny apartment bathroom so I want this. I really want this. I need this. 😀

Muse – would it work on a pedestal sink without anything to support the edges? I’m constantly dropping stuff into my sink with our limited bathroom space. This seems like a great idea. I could get a piece of plywood, but that doesn’t fold up. HAHA!

I’m not sure, Sarah! I literally just purchased it today out of morbid curiosity. I’ll let ya know. I THINK it might work fine. Because essentially it’s just covering your sink so it doesn’t really need any support. LOL agreed! I mean we can do it with a large cardboard or poster board but yup, can’t fold it away 😀

Do you love the matte? I am the inventor and would love to know? @thematteofficial

You might be able to find a large cutting board to cover the top of your pedestal sink. You could even try to find one that you hang up on the wall when not in use, to save room.

I think this is a great idea, but I can’t do my makeup in the bathroom, because I’m nearsighted and need my mirror to be right in front of my face, so it wouldn’t work for me.

I actually use a cookie sheet (like a jelly roll pan, one that’s like 1/2″ deep) across the sink and then just slip it behind the sink when I’m finished. I had no idea I could be inventive with that idea! LOL

      • Jane

I like that idea! Plus, there’s that nice lip on all the jelly roll pans and no hole. Thank you!

This is hysterical!!! It proves that I’m NOT as crazy as some people think!
For the past year & a half, I’ve been using my sink basin as a storage unit for my makeup! It’s rendered the sink unusable…, it’s too much trouble to remove everything so, ( gross: I run my toothbrush under the tub faucet & “expel” the contents of my mouth into the toilet… So this item would be super handy for me!!!
Oh, if you’re wondering why I do this, it’s because my dear, youngest child & pals, decided to purchase 3 gerbils as pets in their university residence, dorm rooms!
They got busted & ordered to remove this trio of boys from the pet free facility … Lucky me, here they are!
Due to my high foster, feline population, they’re confined to the bathroom for safety reasons. I felt so bad for them cooped in the tiny cage ( actually, truth be told, they began to fight to the death )…. After my administering day & night intensive care nursing to recover from their serious injuries, they became “free roaming” gerbils – I learned that males are not quite compatible in close quarters. They have methodically chewed away the wooden baseboards, are attempting to tunnel through walls ( it won’t be long before they break free! ) …essentially they’re destroying my bathroom…but that’s no big deal : it can be repaired! what I cannot tolerate is them chewing through my makeup palettes!!! So, I must keep my stuff in the sink!

This would be great for travel!

I once stayed at a hotel with a pedestal sink and almost no counter space and lost an eyeshadow when my travel palette fell off the edge of the sink.
